Degale V Mayweather

Just heard after his next fight James Degale is flying off to Vegas for sparring sessions with PBF. They're also trying to line up sessions with Winky Wringht & Jermain Taylor.

Obviously he'll learn a lot from this but do you reckon it'll be enough to propel him on to big things?

What something like this is good for is getting a taste of what it takes to get to the top. He's probably thinking he's not that far away from being world class (although he won't admit it) and that if he keeps his head down reasonably he'll get there.
A whupping in sparring would good for him in the long run Imo as it would let him know how hard he is going to have to work to get to something like top level. It may also give his coaches some new thoughts on methods although I can't imagine the Mayweather's being too generous about handing out accumulated knowledge.

Everyone hated De Gale because he was so cocky in his 1st fight. In his 2nd fight he became more humble and people started to warm to him.

This news story looks like he's going back to being the cocky arrogant guy that we all hate, only until he proves anything in the ring is he worth anything, it is as simple and ruthless as that in boxing.

I fear that De Gale's achilles heel is his ego and I hope it doesn't prove his downfall.

the problem with de gale and khan is that they were set up for life before their pro careers started. boxers over the years have had a hunger and desire to live a better life, but
when you become a millionaire before you've even had a pro fight i cant see how you can have that kind of drive? khan and audley harrison especially have not really gone through the ranks and worked their way up and therefore have lost that connection with the fans. i hope degale and the other olympians dont go the same way

Out of all the olympians, i worry for frankie gavin the most..he may have been the best amateur but he isnt powerful and has the quick hand speed to make him stand out as a special boxer.

What makes you think DeGale is even close to being a millionaire? Do you know something about his contract, sponsorship deals and payment to date that we don’t?

Hmmm...DeGale wants to become a boring, defensive, safety-first fighter who's on his toes at the nearest sign of trouble.

Why does this not surprise me?

i disagree with you YaBoy86. i used to spar with bily joe saunders and i had never seen up in person someone so natural. He must of been a tiny 16 year old fighting heavyweights for training!! and he would hold his own with his speed and brilliant natural technique.. he will be a world champ one day! id put money on it!! Win yourself some money mate!!
