Stoke after Owen aswell?

Premier League Stoke City
comment on the article

Just flicking through the bbc gossip column on bbc sport, i saw that Pulis has said that hed love to sign Micheal Owen. I am surprised by this as i didnt see owen as being pulis type of player. Dont get me wrong i still think that hed be a good signing as he is still a natural goalscorer but would we be able to afford his wages. Plus will he be fit enough to play most games in the season, which hed have to if hes on high wages. What do you think?

POOR POOR MICHAEL OWEN.

'THE HOTTEST PROPERTY IN THE PREMIERSHIP', AT THE RIGHT CLUB, AROUND THE RIGHT PEOPLE, LIVERPOOL FC JUST WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH FOR HIM ANYMORE.

HE DECIDED TO JOIN THE GLAMEROUS, ALBEIT SINKING SHIP IN SPAIN, AND THE REST IS HISTORY.

PERHAPS A BIT MORE LOYALTY, AND LESS EGO, ARROGANCE AND GREED, AND HIS CV WOULD BE READING A LOT MORE DIFFERENTLY.

AND NOW HE HAS EFFECTIVELY SAID A RELEGATED NEWCASTLE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR HIM?

WHAT A DOUCHEBAG. SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE...

West London Blues

Not the sort of statement I'd usually associate with the prawn sandwich brigade.

Re. West London Blues

Pretty odd post - he never said that Liverpool weren't good enough for him. He moved on to Real; players do things like that. You give as you favourite players people like Zola and Henry; are you under the impression they stayed with one club their whole careers?

What he said is that he believes he should play in the Premiership; many other would feel the same. Again, look at you list of favourite players, how many do you think would have stayed if relegated. And staying with Newcastle?!

All this talk about ego, arrogance, greed - where did you get all of this from? He believes in his ability, what do you expect?

What do you mean when you say that Real was a sinking ship?

it does shock me that Hull are interested in Owen since stoke have benn. I think that ginger **n* wants any player that stoke does. im shocked he hasnt put an offer in for alan smith or dean ashton yet cause stoke have been rumoured to be after him.

"Shouldn't have sold him in the first place. Who knows, Liverpool may have actually won the Premiership if Owen hadn't gone to Madrid and the hospital that is Newcastle"

Whoa, whoa, whoa, there Charlie. Bold statement. Did we sell Owen or were we left with no alternative but to do so because he wanted to leave? Where have you gotten any facts from? Its no secret he left for Real on his own accord, that Rafa tried to persuade him to remain, and quite frankly I dont blame him for leaving.

He was hot stuff while the remainder of the team, with Gerrard just developing, were way behind. He wanted honours and Liverpool didnt look in shape. But it was the way he left that sticks with some fans, like myself. He had one year left on his contract and we didnt want a repeat of Steve McManaman. Did you really think LFC would have sold him if they didnt have to? Come on.

As for winning the league, we needed more than Owen to do that, we needed proper blasting and re-focusing, some of them were living large in the dressing room, were not putting the effort in.

Cannot believe the cheek of Micheal Owen. HE choose to go to newcastle and he didnt really play because he was injured and this added to why they went down and now he has the cheek of wanting out asap (like he deserves to be in the premiership?) after newcastle paid hes wages!!!!

Hope no one signs him and he stays at newcastle and pays them back

Well, Owen will sign for someone just to be in the EPL. Thing is, are Stoke or Hull fans happy with that possibility, that he only wants to sign just to be in the EPL?

How about wanting to sign because he has seen the club, the players, the locale, talked extensively with the management and then deciding?

It just doesnt wash well with me how he declares he will sign for a club that is in the top flight, regardless the country. He practically demands it. And this 'brochure' his agency issued, like one you would pick up from a car showroom. Perhaps he should have advertised in the Loot!

I had a NUFC fan telling me Owen displayed the attributes of a captain when appointed in 2008. Funny, I dont recall seeing them, but Owen is now doing what most captains arent expected to do....avoid going down with the sinking ship.

And lest we forget it was he who said he would only sign for NUFC ON LOAN, and yet he signed permanently when LFC showed no further interest.

I know Owen to have made one rash tackle on Peter Schmeichel and get dismissed. After that he was Michael Owen, goal scorer. Focus, hunger, pace, guile, finish. Then RM stepped in and he hasnt been the same. Just wondering if the Stoke and Hull fans were aware of all of that.
