Wimbledon - day one

comment on the article

Morning all,
It's finally arrived, Wimbledon 2009 gets under way and I can tell you from Centre Court that it's cloudy, muggy but set to remain dry.

There's lots of great action today, including Roger Federer - standing in for the injured Rafael Nadal as the opening attraction on Centre Court at 1300 BST.

Play starts on the outside courts at 1200 BST, with British 15-year-old Laura Robson taking on Daniela Hantuchova on the new Court Two.

Let us know your thoughts on what will and won't happen over the next fortnight...

There will no doubt be hysterical (mainly female) support for Mr Murray from English fans at Wimbledon. This gentleman has expressed in no uncertain terms his feelings about England, which are more negative than thosen of Adolf Hitler. I don't have anything against him in particular, he could just as well be a Spaniard or German. I am English so I can't support someone who hates my country.Whether he wins or loses, he's just another foreigner!"

===================

It's amazing how long people will believe something that's completely untrue. Murray once made a joke (you've heard of them, yes?) during an interview with the journalist Des Kelly which certain media sources decided made him "anti-English". Kelly himself returns to the issue every year to make clear that the insinuation that people such as spitallo make is utter bollocks, here's his latest article about it:

"But last Monday Murray answered the anti-English charges for the umpteenth time: 'I get on great with English people. I've got an English girlfriend, my fitness trainers are both English, all the people I surround myself with are English, my best friend is English.'

Do you think that might have done the trick? Er, no.

A Scottish commentator sneered: 'Andy Murray's new best mates? The English.' The piece continued: 'Aye, but I bet he jumped with joy like the rest of us when Portugal knocked them out of the World Cup in 2006.' All of this appeared under the headline: 'He's one of us, not one of them'. And so it goes on. Us and Them. "

this is the problem- one he says he likes the english, he is this with the english- what he isnt saying is that he is actually part english- BUT MORE importantly BRITISH- end of story- stop the us and them- and then of course his biggest problem is the scottish press creating boundaries- morons!!
