Congratulations Pakistan

Twenty20 Pakistan
comment on the article

I would like to congratulate Pakistan for their victory against Sri Lanka and becoming the 2009 ICC T20 world champions. Since England went out i wanted Pakistan to win as we all know what Indian fans did to our team (Booing the national anthem.)

We all know with the death of Bob Woolmer and the Sri Lanka bus attack we all thought Pakistan would never win anything again but they have proved us all wrong.

I hope Pakistanis are very happy and proud of their Cricket team.

Younus Khan is so humble, he keep building his statements when it comes to diticating trophy. First it was Wolmer, then Pakistan, now population..Looking at pictures from Pak, I think it'll give hell of inspiration and protect good in the country..It just gives them hope that they are something and world recognises their success and not isolated.

Why does Pakistan winning the ICC T20 (a great achievement) change the fact that any international team is literally cannon fodder when they tour Pakistan.
..................................................
You make a very relevant and apt point. Basic to the whole issue of other countries touring Pakistan is the security situation. Pakistan winning the cup does not relieve it one bit. Younus is only saying 'look we play good cricket and possibly do not ignore us as the international neglect will adversely impact our cricket.'
It is an uncomplicated man's humble and simplistic plea. He is hardly in a position to say 'look, we will guarantee your safety, please tour Pakistan'.
WC win or not, all countries will evaluate their response with a fair degree of realism. One can hardly appeal to the terrorist to lay off simply hoping he will be big enough to spare cricket in view of the mitigation. Let us wait and see. Of late Pakistan does seem to be making an effort, and cricket is not the only aspect to be relied upon for motivation.

There are so many contradictions in your name, it beggers disbelief. I have read quite a few of your postings...one would think cricket begins and ends with team India...

I'm a cricket lover, I have and will always acknowledge team or invidual performances irregardless whether its team Indian.....England....Pakistan......or its MS Dhoni....Ponting .....or Afridi...etc etc. I am not biased like you, I look at facts and make informed decisions and comments and I wish you would do the same.

Exactly how did Bob Woolmer die? Was it homicide or of natural causes? I think the erstwhile!
...............................................
An excellent point from ss. If Pakistan's Cup win should lead to unraveling of the mystery that continues to surround Bob Woolmer's untimely and perhaps unnatural death, it will be a very welcome outfall. Else the bitterness felt by all cricket lovers around the world will never be truly banished.
Nevertheless, this gap in credibility should not be allowed to overshadow celebrations.

Sorry, but how dare Younis Khan bring up the topic of teams touring Pakistan in front of the Sri Lankans (who were almost killed in Karachi)?

For all the vitriol spewed on BCCI and India and IPL, it is IPl that helped spread T20 worldwide - Indian money went to the coffers of players worldwide

flipping the coin, how many countries would pay Indian players millions of dollars for a few weeks - so, India;s intent and honor should be respected

when India won against Australia, last yera it was dismissed as a home turf win - when India beat New Zealand it was dismissed as a non-event - when India beat England 5-0 in ODIs last year, Tests alone mattered - when India took Australia to the ropes in Australia, umpiring di India in

so, India has done masterfully, yet you fans who blame India have been myopic all along

so, fix your short-sightedness first - in a democratic forum, I have the freedom to support the team I like - To me, t20 is irrelevant - many UK and Aussie fans have stated likewise

tests and ODI matter - I will appreciate any team that performs like India did last year, or South Africa did last year - and like England did somewhat last year

what a few pwople are messing up is thau its true india defeated new zeland away but after how many years???,india won the 2007 t20 but were they favourites??no just like pakistan was not favourite in this world cup.but does that matter???the point is every team has its ups and down,as we are seeing australian team having a taste of their own medicine after the retirements of some world class players.pakistan held upper hand mostly in 90's.a fact many will deny.now india has a balanced side and are on upsurge.thats natural.but remember folks, everything that goes up,comes down.just like it happened in this very tournament, where indian team lost all its super eight matches and even didn't qualify for the semis.so,the lesson is,for everyone that inflate only within limits rather then getting bursted!!!!!;)

and yeah ipl and its money is indian, but its indians themselves who are spending it.in my opinion, its good as its helping building careers of not only indian young players as well as helping internationally for players from other countries.for this, india is to be appreciated.and may be in long term we might see its benefits.right now the only objection is too many matches in such tight international schedule causes fatigue and mental distraction.which is what actually happened with indian team for the hectic schedule.indian team right now is a very gifted side and will bounce back from this defeat.but we should all be in reality FAIR AND BALANCED and appreciate the winning moments of any team, with grace and dignity.:)

Pakistan deserve all credit for winning - if India had won, fabf would have been extolling the virtues of T20. So sad that he can't congratulate a winning team, very small minded.

Anyway, from those of us with less parochial views, WELL DONE TO PAKISTAN!! <cheers>
