comment on the article

Morning everyone,

It's the start of a huge double-header from Lord's, for which I'll be bringing you the live text - and the first act on the bill is the Women's World Twenty20 final between England and New Zealand.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cri...

It's a repeat of the World Cup final three months ago - can England complete the double, or will it be revenge for the White Ferns?

Do get involved and join the debate.

Brilliant, girls. I hope us guys can learn from you how to win - and with enthusiasm, skill and modesty like you. Team of the year - but we all know you won't get the accolades you deserve.

I am so disappointed that the headline is that Pakistan win the 20:20. How does that fit with the blog requirements that comments may be deleted if they • "Are racist, sexist, homophobic, sexually explicit, abusive or otherwise objectionable"?

Absolutely disgusted with the grudging, minimalist coverage by the BBC of women's cricket. When are they going to give equal coverage to the game, just as they do for women's tennis at Wimbledon?

Come out of the 19th century, BBC and give these excellent players the coverage they deserve. The ECB have done a very good job with the Chance to Shine initiative and girls in schools are signing up to cricket like never before - about time our public broadcaster got behind them and helped to generate even more interest.

Hmm... I wonder why they cover women's tennis in a competition where a certain uniform is enforced. whistle

It's a bad world we live in.

There may be an element of truth in what you write, Ginger Warrior. Let's hope the BBC wakes up to the fact that they have a public duty to promote the women's game as well as the men's.

Fabulous, wonderful, congratulations to every member of the squad and to the coaching staff to.Women's cricket standards have really risen in recent years and yesturday proved just what a superb team England have. The bowling would give some of the men serious problems. This was a totally enjoyable game not hindered by superstars but by good honest and superb sportswomen. We as a nation rightfully should be really proud of them. This whole squad deserve an honour for what they have done first The Ashes, then the World Cup and now The 20-20 World Cup.If this was men they would have all been honoured so please let's recognise this quite amazing and well deserved team of world class players, every one of them are sproting heroes.Credit to New Zealand to they lost beaten on the day by a better side but they've played some great cricket throughout this tounament. All in all a wonderful advertisement for the ladies game and a final at Lord's.One point to close what a super moment to see the ladies and the men's winners photographed together at the end of the games.Hope this is the beginning at last for equal recognition in the world game as a whole.

It is to the undying shame of the BBC that they do not broadcast Women's Cricket and yet has saturation coverage of a minority sport that no-one in this country hardly ever plays!

What a fantastic win for the England Ladies. I watched with my daughter who insited afterwards that we play cricket for most of the afternoon, and I was New Zealand!!

Really entertaining viewing, pity Sky didn't show all the games from the off set. BBC where were the highlights?? Top effort ladies.

Ginger_Warrior.

Prolly the same reason they don't employ women over 45. Interesting that a broadcaster that relies on advertsising revenue, televises women's cricket matches, but a broadcaster that is state funded, continues to discriminate on the basis that women's sport is only of minority interest. It would help if the Equalities Commission, didn't insist on labelling women a 'minority'. How can half the planet's population be a minority? As someone who was told to stop playing cricket, in 1972 (age 8), on the grounds that I was a 'young lady', I'm delighted to see women's cricket blossoming. It's just a shame that it will only get BBC coverage, when the men's team are doing badly.
