As Rafa has said tendenitis is NOT a chronic problem, he needs rest and exercise not heavy tennis matches. I love him to bits and feel sure he will be back and watch out then. I too am massively disappointed about Wimbeldon but hey Ho thats life. Rafa has the honesty to admit he is not ready. get those knees in good shape Rafa, take care of yourself, lots of remedial massage with oils like Eucalyptus citriodora, benzoin, juniper etc. Love you forever vamos Rafa.xxx

Spurs1709: "lets all prey the jock does not win wimbledon"

Pathetic. I'm ashamed to support the same football team as an oik like you.

That's life. Nadal got to Number 1 because of an illness that Federer was suffering now he too has problems. Nadal is a great competitor, obviously, but a lot of his game is about defence and retrieving the ball (yes, he does hit some winners too like anybody). People have been saying for years that his style might see him only through a short career. I hope not. I'm sure he will be back but he may have to change his play to extend his career - if he can change and still win then fair play to him. Otherwise, I think the physical problem he has will be an ongoing problem.

Everyones seemed to have forgotten about Murray, who says RFs going to win wimbledon again? Murrays in his best shape ever and his biggest rivals just pulled out of the competition! Nadal will be back in 6/10 months definitely stronger and will start challenging again! Shame because i can't stand federer winning this again

Andy Murray won Aegon apparently cos Nadal pulled out, now it's going for Andy again to break the wimbledon jinx. Should we pray that Brazil/Argentina/Germany/Italy pull out of SA 2010 for another world cup since 1966?

Sad to see Nadal missing Wimbledon. I am a Murray fan but for such a big player to go missing is a huge blow to the tournament.

It will be sad if Nadal does not regain full health.
I liken him playing Federer to the matador and the bull.
Federer in my opinion has the most interesting game that I have ever watched, as his variety of shots and amazing angles changed the boring baseline power play that was spoiling tennis viewing, to renewed interest.
Its unlikely that Nadal can change his style, which imposes such stress on his body and legs are very important for his type of court coverage.
They did say that Borg because of his top spin , that his arms would suffer , but that did not happen.
At least he is wise to pass on Wimbledon this year.
Federer played on for some time with an undiagnosed illness that really set him and his game back and I am not convinced he is completely over it yet.
Wimbledon will determine if he is. Its a surface he loves and I would love to see a final with him and Murray, as that way its a win win in my book.

It's a huge disappointment that Nadal is not playing. Nadal and Federer is just the story of the tournament, and really most of the GSs in the last few years. To not see Nadal play saddens me.

I think though that he is going to prove his critics wrong by coming back fitter than ever after this. And he will probably skip a couple of tournaments every year from now on. He can't play them all and stay fit, but he doesn't have to play all of them. .

Federer should not win it- first of all,
Nadal who has something like a 14-7 head to head, Aussie Champion, and World No.1 is NOT in the tournament is a shame for the game of tennis. Wimbledon has lost a bit of gloss as the world no.1 is not playing. Sorry but true, and Murray has a GOLDEN chance this time if he can get through the first week ok.
Murray for me !

lets not forget this is the same tendenitis that has plagued Owen Hargreaves football career which after saying he would be able to play on has now said he fears he will never be able to return...hopefully Nadal will be ok, but I wouldn't count on it
