Glen Johnson. Good player but not exactly the missing piece in a title winning jigsaw surely? And £17 million?! Wouldn't pay it for Barry but an afford it for a right-back? Not to mention when Liverpool are strapped for cash. It doesn't make sense.

You are right about defenders.

For liverpool fans sake, hopefully he will imrpove. But there are not a lot of defenders who really make that last step after the age of 24/5. As you can see, there still are defenders over the age of 30, even with so much experience, they get done and have to make up with a last second challenge. Not taking any names here biggrin IMO defenders don't improve their reading of the game at that age. But they do improve concentration level. And, like i said, not all do that(improve).

I said technically. Which means only in technique department anderson is better than tevez.

There are some footballers who are better than ronaldo technically, but they are not better than him overall. Take Arshavin, Berbatov, fabregasfor example.

cheers to a good debate. I'm surprised tbh.

I'm just suggesting that Liverpool would probably have won had Torres and Gerrard been fit all season.

I just dont really agree.

Rio ferdinand still had plenty of detractors when he was 24/25 with people saying he lacked concentration at times and didn't know when to go forward or stay back.

These are exactly the same criticisms that are currently leveled at Glen Johnson so I think its just a case of getting more experience. I think, technically, he's already there, its just the concentration that sometime lets him down.

In my earlier comment i said he can improve his concentration.

If he does this, it will make him a great player and the money spent will be well worth it.

However, like i said not all improve, as the example i gave earlier on about defenders over the age of 30 still get done, due to lack of concentration, or good enough reading of the game.

I was mainly disagreeing about him improving technically. TBF, i think he is good technically, like you said, so the pool fans don't need to be worried about that.

Yeah, i can agree with that.

Its just down to his own determination at the end of the day, but I really think he could become a big player for Liverpool.

I know that sounds stupid saying that about a fullback, but look at how important Evra has been to Utd.
