Roberto Martinez will be confirmed as Wigan's new manager tomorrow, it seems. Compensation has been agreed with Swansea for the his assistant manager Graeme Jones and chief scout Kevin Reeves, according to a statement from Huw Jenkins on the official Swansea webpage. It's up on the BBC as well, so it looks like its official -> news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...

Thank god this is over, maybe we can get our summer transfer targets signed up ASAP, we've already lost three weeks with Bruce leaving. We might even get our 606 board back from the influx of bitter Swans....

Only joking, it's been nice having a bit of debate these last few weeks, let's hope that our respective clubs end up meeting in the Premiership come next season.

Martinez was Excellent when he was with us and I heard when He was at Wigan he was a Legend. He did a Good Job at Swansea and I can't see why he won't do well at the JJB.

Good Luck Wigan!

I'll be watching out for your Results!

We seem absolutely obsessed with 'good young managers' in this country. Martinez may have been a hit as a player at Wigan, but can he manage? 2 good seasons with Swansea is a world away from the Premier league. Curbishley should have been sounded out - look what he achieved with Charlton, very much a similar club to Wigan.

Just a line from a Swansea follower of over 50 years, despite the fact that I cut my teeth a little North of Wigan, on the banks of River Lune.

I have to send my best wishes to Senor Martinez in his new adventure. He gave his all here in every way.The football was grand,he was always well presented and articulate, and he always seemed to have an eye for the Community as well.

There is a saying locally that Swansea is such a great place to live that it's the 'graveyard of ambition',unfortunately in this case it didn't work.(Mind you with the sun out and the tide in as it was today, even Ancelotti could be tempted.)

I for one will always look for the Wigan results from now on---after the Swans of course.
Hope to see you figure more on Match of the Day as well.

i'm hoping him and whelan can come up with a similar deal that got the three amigo's in 95. That kicked Wigan on a level and might need doing agin to keep them up next season.

A goalscorer is a must, a centre half woulod be a bonus and if/when valencia goes some creativity too.

Good luck roberto, you've got a big job on your hands.

Wonder how they will feel when he is sacked or abandons you too? You're welcome to him, but NEVER listening to a word the smooth talking hypocrite comes out with!!!

What so Newport jack and hi smates wouldn't change jobs for more money, a more successful company or a promotion?

Maybe you should be calling yourself what you are calling Martinez. Fact is he did a good job for you and you should be grateful he got you into the CCC in the first place.

In the Premiership he won't be able to gamble on the cheap untried Spaniards and cast offs that served him well at Swansea

For a matter of fact, Im an Ipswich Fan, and saw Swansea come to Portman Road last year and play us off the park, and in which, each Spanish player on the park for Swansea outshone everyone else, class, and could do alot better than some players at Wigan, soo? dont judge, just because there a division lower, there good players, and deserve to be in the Premiership!

wigan supporters

please give him a try , We played them twice in the fa cup last year , a draw we didnt deserve , brought them back to the cottage , for 70 mins again were the better team , only our fitness in the last 20 mins made us scrape through
i think the reason why swansea are not sitting in the premiership was due to sheer volume of games , i think they had at least 5 games behind some of the other championship teams , when they came too the cottage
