All kudos to the German Equestrian Federation. Doping has become endemic to sports everywhere. It's high time the supposed authorities started enforcing the rules.

Betcha didn't know: Breeding thoroughbreds which have been treated with Lasix is forbidden in Germany. They won't register any foal from any such parent.

WhiteCamry, it is not just Lasix that the German Stud Book forbid:

No Thoroughbred stallion can go to stud unless he has raced for at least 2 seasons (though they don't have to be consecutive).

He cannot go to stud if he has raced on any medication. This is why Mutamam had to go to stud in Italy after the German stud book refused to register him when it was discovered that he raced in Lasix once in Canada.

Europe has much better policies on drug administration involving racehorses.
As regard the German Federation - their behaviour is a great exmaple to all national federations who continue to allow endemic drug abuse in all sports. As soon as these public bodies in all countries stop brushing it all under the carpet the cleaner our sports will become.
Good on them - too many horses have failed dope testing at the Olympics recently and it is embarassing for the sport not to mention the backlash from the animal rights nutters.
