Last time we were outplayed & beaten in CL-

Champions League Manchester United
comment on the article

-we returned next season to win it.

A few improvements here & there, and no reason why this cannot happen again. I expect Barca again to be our only real threat.

We've played Arsenal & Chelsea in Europe in the last two seasons, and with the Premier league teams being in the top 5 in Europe, we might play Liverpool next season. Knocking them out would be great!

Giggs - A Legend but he is our version of Raul, more a symbol of past glory than anything else

Park - good in support but was pushed to forward and was never a threat. Tevez should have played this role from the start

Anderson - jekyll and Hyde, shocking performance on the day. Would have rather seen Berba or Scholes. The middle of the park was a dead zone for united

Rooney and Ronaldo - tried to play off each other when they could but mostly went it alone, Berbatov would have held the ball up and played them through.

If they Berba and Tevez on from the start they would habe given themselves a much better chance.

I think it is High time that Man United bring some African talent in the club. It is the link they miss right now. I am sure there are a couple of good players who can fit to the style the reds approach the game. Comeon Sir Alex, bring on the Africans

For Christs sake people why do you think that United are about to fall apart?

We have just won the premierleague despite being pushed hard by liverpool. We got to the semi final of the FA cup and only lost on penalties. We won the league cup and, despite it being a money making cup for fifa, the World Club Championship.

We DO have the best team in the premiership, sorry liverpool fans for thinking otherwise, but it was proved when we won the premierleague fair and square over 38 games. You may have two outstanding players in gerrard and torres and they may have only played together 12 times this season but YOU WILL NEVER WIN ANYTHING RELYING ON TWO PLAYERS!

Anyway, back to United. In the cup final when we came out of the blocks on a flyer, all you could hear was 'look at united, dominating the game' United could have been 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes, but we didn't, barcelona scored and our heads went down. Carrick, who has had such a blinder this season, probably my man of the season just because of his understated brilliance, couldn't get his passing in order. Anderson who IS another brilliant young player seemed confused as to what he was being asked to do, for all of his doubters of doing a good CM job did you see him dominate gerrard last season? he was all over him like a bad rash. Our defense, which is easily the most capable in the world, failed to stop the smallest player on the park from getting a free header, and VDS was beaten at his near post from an acute angle. Something which goalkeepers, especially those of VDS ability, seldome do. Ronaldo seemed to be all in it for the World Player of the Year award, and in my eyes Rooney was the only one that was playing anywhere near is full capability.

Now lets look at the barcelona team. Their defense, especially Pique was outstanding, and dealt with anything they needed to. But their midfield wasn't especially outstanding either, with the exception to the brilliant Iniesta anyway, Xavi is suppost to be the best CM player in the world, yet on his performance i have seen Carrick play, much, MUCH better. He did one good pass all game, and that shouldn't have even been a good pass, more a hopeful one at best as Uniteds defenders should have easily picked up the messi in the box. Henry did ok, not particularly outstanding but ok, eto'o apart from his goal i can't actually remember seeing him, as for messi. On the performance of the night, Iniesta was by far and away the best player. He was the only one who's passing was consistantly of the standard required at this level, and dominated the game for barca.

There are only two players known to me that could make this United midfield stronger than it already is and those two are Iniesta and Essien, both are unobtainable as the are considered unvaluable by their respective clubs. As for gerrard, before all you liverpool fans moan and complain, yes he is a world class player, but i dont see how he would fit into the team considering he plays more as a second striker than anything else.

United have the team, we shouldn't let Tevez go, nani is a bit of a waister but the united staff know a hell of a lot more than you or I with regards to how good a player is. We have two players who were missing last night that could have made a difference, fletcher and hargreaves. The only place i believe United need to strengthen is strangley the defense, we don't actually have an out and out right back now, rafael is showing great signs of promice, but thats all it is, promice and gary neville doesn't have the legs any more especially considering united new approach to utilising the fullback in a much more offensive role.

United were outplayed and even, at times, looked confused against Barcelona. Before I would start predicting about next years championship I would be concerned as to who would, and would not, be part of this club next season. Without Ronaldo and Tevez, this is a very ordinary team!

As soon as the first goal was scored, it felt as if Man United has lost it. The passing was shoddy, and noone was prepared to tackle the Barcelona midfield and attack. I agree that if we had managed to score early then it may have been different, but we lost, so we have to look at next season, where we can try and win it again.

Personally, I believe that Benzema would fit into our team as the goalscorer Man United need, as Rooney is the assist and Berbatov is too lazy to do anything. Tevez is good, but I'm still not certain whether we'll still sign him on a permenant deal.

Everyone is saying Hargreaves will help sort out our midfield problems. He has been off all season, and will need time to recover and come back to how good he used to be. And given time, I feel that Anderson has a lot of potential and, givent he correct coaching, can become a class player.

We can win the Premiership next season, we just need the right attitude.

we got it tactically wrong that day. wrong formation...no closing down...had fletcher and hargreaves been there...mr inesta and xavi wud never hav done this damage.....our central defenders cannot certainly deal with the quick barca player in one on one situation..the midfield has to help....barca not the best team in the world not at all....lets see wat they do in world club.. champs especially against south american teams...we are still the best..i think so

There's no doubt the loss was a disappointment and a shock, not just to all United fans but to many rival fans. But the difference between United and Barca is that in years to come United will be stronger and more powerful whereas Barcelona won't
