"Berbatov has a premiership medal in his first season...Torres has ...remind me what did he win last year i have forgotten"

What kind of lame point is this? You're a member of the team, you get the medal! Berbatov was nowhere near instrumental in Utd's title win last season. You've just written without engaging thoroughly your brain. If you want to compare Berbatov because of title medals, might as well throw in a comparison with other players from the other 19 teams.

If Berbatov had been some kind of Atlas and was as influential as Ronaldo, then fair enough. Man Utd got the title on the balance of a team effort, not an individual effort, though some would hold Ronaldo as an exception to that point.

he took a cut to come to Anfield

Not that old bs story again.

Rafa admitted he made a mistake and confused pounds with euro.

Still you knew that but still posted it anyway eh kiddo.

You'll tell us next you'll win the league....NEXT YEAR

-----------------------
he scored against boro and bolton when we won those games 1-0. set up the west ham goal too in another 1-0. he can do more but those were crucial wins.

Funny how any Liverpool story always end up being spoiled a bunch of mancucian WUMs who seem to be obsessed with anything made in Liverpool. History of football made in Liverpool, Music made in Liverpool, Mancs striker partnership made in Liverpool etc. We have not won the league in 19yrs yet all you can think of is Liverpool that, Liverpool that geez.

Good business, if Liverpool finish 5th or lower the banks may panic, Torres will be worth 120 gazillion, or Gerrard may be offloaded for about 60 yikes Where's the justice ? Just ask his lawyer biggrin

i agree totally. we need an adequate partner for him, and with Negredo on the market or even Van Nistelrooy at a cut price... we could do alot worse.

I know rafa is looking for defensive cover at a cheap option well i suggest he goes in for Taylor of Newcastle.

As a Man Utd fan I come in peace. What a great player you have there. Wouldn't mind a bit seeing him wearing the red of Manchester. But I just wanted to say that it's good to see great players remain in the premier league. It can only make it better.

What many don't realise is that Alonzo has limitations in play and also that he spent considerable time off mending injuries during those five yrs. Last yr was the only good year he had and he did so to elevate his market value
_____________________________________________
You've obviously not been watching any Liverpool matches in the time Alonso was there. To say last year was his only good year is ludicrous. An accomplished and polished player his range of passing was instrumental to any success Liverpool had the past few years. While Gerrard was the driving force Alonso was the metronome in midfield keeping things ticking over. The fact he's gone to Madrid shouldnt diminish his impact at Anfield!

I think this deal would be better termed as just a pay increase. He hasn't extended the term of his contract at all. He signed til 2113 originally, and still keeps that date, only with an option for an extension of one more year. That still means he's committed at this point in time for a shorter period (by 2 years/or 1 year if extension option used) than when he signed. Having said all of that.... Torres is worth the pay increase, so it's good business - just wish it was reported more accurately.

True, he was good in his first year too. But inbetween we had two mediocre season and one (2006/7) truly awful one.

And before you ask, yes I HAVE seen him over all five seasons. I presume you're basing a lot of your assertions on CL games, as opposed to unsexy matches such as Middlebrough away, Crewe in the League Cup and so forth.

We WILL miss Alonso, for sure, but £30m sweetens the blow considering we talking about £15m only the season before (and BARRY! as a replacement! headhurts. And it's not as if we were totally dependent on him like, say, Utd were on Ronaldo.
