Rossi keen to get back to winning ways

Moto GP
comment on the article

Defending champion Valentino Rossi is eager to keep up his amazing winning record at Mugello when the Italian MotoGP takes place this weekend.

Rossi has won at his home circuit for seven years in a row and has an added incentive to make it eight in a row after coming last in France two weeks ago, the first time that has happened in his career.

But the competition have plenty of reason to be looking forward to the race too - Jorge Lorenzo's confidence will be even more sky-high than usual after the win in France which took him top of the standings, Casey Stoner will be desperate to win on an Italian bike in Italy, and Dani Pedrosa is getting fitter week by week after his injury problems.

So what do you expect from the big race this weekend? Your thoughts and opinions please....

Rossi will top the podium again this year I think, the guy has always been phenomenal there and I think in years gone he's had greater adversity to battle through than this year and still won (2007 for example).

I hope we'll see Dovi joining him on the rostrum, his home race and he went well round le mans and only just missed out.

Pedrosa would complete my predicted podium but again i'd love to see Melandri up there, I was made up for the guy in France - a nice guy and a talented rider who's not had the greatest couple of years.

Expect 8-10th from JT, would be nice if he could get the set up he's been lacking this season. Not much experience at mugello for james but he needs a good ride and quick.

You should never bet against Rossi at Mugello, he always seems to pull something out of the bag. Stoner and Ducati will be looking to spoil the party. The 2 hondas of Dovi and Pedrosa will be keeping up with the pace, I hope dovi can beat dani though. If Lorenzo can put in the lap times like he did last time out he will be hard to beat but Im going for a upset Stoner to win Rossi in 2nd and either Dovi or Melandri in third.
JT is struggling to put in a decent qualifier, he is a good racer but cant seem to get the crucial single quick lap that he needs in MotoGP

I'm not convinced Rossi and Stoner's bikes are handling the way they would like. Rossi can usually adapt his riding style during the race and remain competitive but I think this years Ducati is proving difficult to tame... even for Stoner.
Lorenzo,Pedrosa then Rossi 1-2-3

I wouldnt bet against Valentino at Mugello either. But Jorge is on fire and will be looking to take the Mugello record from Valentino.

Danny could be the sting in the tail for both of them because his fitness and confidence is improving and I think the fun and games will be between Valentino and Jorge this weekend which could give Danny the edge.

Stoner is off form at the moment and needs to get his head sorted before he can be truly competitive again.

I wouldnt like to make a firm prediction but Jorge, Vale and Danny top three. But i would like Melandri to make another apperance on the podium.

Rossi for me as long as it stays dry - always manages to pull something extra out of the bag for Mugello, and the Yamaha seems the pick of the bunch at the moment. I think Lorenzo's 'sky-high confidence' and being 'on fire' could be over-stating things a little though - Le Mans was Dani's for the taking if it had been dry and the race before at Jerez Lorenzo was a distant 4th when he threw it in to the gravel.

Just like Stoner seeems to make the opening race his, I think Rossi will continue to dominate in Mugello, with Ducati 2nd, as its their home track too, something about the added pressure to deliver in front of your fans makes riders work miracles, unless your JT, where the pressure and weight of expectation seems to get to him unfortunately.

Rossi
Stoner
Dani
Jorge

...and by fans, I mean Ducati Fans, not Stoners fans obviously, as most Italians probably dont like him smiley

seeing as he brought Ducati their first ever gp world championship i'm pretty sure every true Ducati fan likes him.

For a change I would like to see someone else win at Mugello. I think the person with the best chance is Lorenzo - as we all know, he is quick there but I think if Rossi has even a small chance of winning, he will.

Pedrosa maybe for pole. Or Stoner. I can't make up my mind!

Above all, I hope it's a decent race because the quality of the racing has been quite poor for about the last 10 races!

Why is no one talking about a certain Mr Meldandri?

I expect him to podium, watch this space!
