Just want to show my appreciation for the most decorated footballer in English Football, he will play his 800th game for United tomorrow evening and i just hope he can continue on as long as possible. The guy is pure class and its unbelievable that he is still performing at this level.

True Legend of the game and hope he gets the PFA award this year because its amazing to think that he has never won it. Has there ever been a better winger in the game? Taking in to account how long he has lasted at the very top. Fergie said in his press conference that when Macheda and Wellbeck were just coming into this world Giggs was making his united debut anh he's still running down the wing skinning players

Right. I think I have to agree that Giggs shouldn't win this award. Yes I'm a United fan and I think he is world class but I just feel Gerrard and Vidic deserve it more this YEAR. Don't get me wrong I love Giggs, a fantastic role model and professional and he deserves a Knighthood but the Players' Player award just isn't for him and the fact people are saying he deserves it for his past and his history is making me sick because it is a biased argument seeing as the award is only for this year.

how can a player win the PFA award when he has only started 12 games this season thus far with 1 goal.

Torres has started 16 games and pumped in 13 goals and even i say he hasn't played enough to warrent being on the list.

this award should be based on THIS seasons contributions and performances and not a sense of nostalgia or overall career stats or simply because we should feel sorry for him because he has never won the award.

Higgs is a legend, but does that mean he should win the PFA award ahead of players who have done more THIS SEASON? The fact that Lampard wasn't even nominated whilst Giggs who without injury has barely played half a season's worth of games is being toured as the rightful winner is a joke. Ferguson says he deserves it for his contributio to the game. I do not believe that this is what the PFA award is for.

If he wins this award, and I dont think he will, it will be based on sentiment and not performance. Only diehard united fans beleive he has done well this season. The reality is that he is a once great, thats had a nice revival playing abit part from the bench. His finishing in the game against Portsmouth, tells you all you need to know about Giggs in 2009.
The reason Ferguson has made this statement is that he wants to honour Giggs, since he knows he wont win it, and this will have been his last moment in the spotlight. Nice gesture from old whisky face.

Ryan Giggs has made 12 (twelve) starts in the league all season. The award is meant to reward performance, not to be handed around for sentimental reasons.

Giggs has had a great career and deserves great respect but his nomination for this season is an absolute joke.

He has played roughly 1/3 of the playing time this season and shone in about 4 games. How on earth that be considered a higher contibution to the likes of Lampard who had beeb consistently very good all season yet he doesnt even get a nomination.

these awards are a joke.

i think next season will be a good one, i think berbatov will be scoring for fun as he would have had a season to setlle in at united and if ronaldo stays he will be scoring more goals
==========
and I think it might rain next Wednesday.....

what relevance has this got on whether Giggs should win the PFA award?!

i am torn with this decisions because if t is based on performance then i agree that their are some player that have played more games than giggs, however if he has played only 12 games but played outstandingly then that would sway the decisions his way, i fell however that vidic and gerrard have been outstanding consistently and therefore deserve it more than giggsy does. As a liverpool fan i would like to see gerrard win it but as a football fan it would be nice to see giggs win it
