Oh and also, maybe we should care about American Football in Britain before we have to care about the Super Bowl. After all, quite a few of the people who want the Super Bowl over here have probably never went to an BAFL or BritBowl match. (Admittedly, some of you will have).

Don't give into foreign imports. In Britain we have ice hockey, we have american football, we have basketball, and we can go and see that, even if it isn't as good as America - after all, the best are on TV!

Just find your local team!

Coach don't get me wrong, i'd love to have the big game at Wembley, and there's part of me that thinks it will happen, just going by what the commissioner said, wasn't reading between the lines

You've hit the nail bang on the head. The reason us Brits dont watch BAFL, or the EIHL is the same reason Amercians dont take to watching Rochdale or Darlington (No offence intended to these teams btw) in our football league. Its simple the product is inferior, people want to see the best.

i am an american living over here in the uk , played college football and have been to see the nfl at wembley. i will go out on a limb and say this will never happen in my lifetime. superbowl's are bid on like the olympics and awarded ahead of time right now 2012 is in indianapolis , talks are in about new orleans for 2013. so if discussions dont take place for another 3/4 yrs you are looking at 2018 at the earliest. just imagine the uproar in the US if it was awarded to london ? the nfl's reputation would take a huge hit amongst its huge american fanbase. my call and i know its a bad time what with the swine flu goin about , mexico gets the first international superbowl

It would be great to see the Superbowl over here but as a collegue just said 'we may let the game down'? Interest on the NFL may be growing in the UK but most of us Brits are insular and actually think Soccer is bigger than American Football!

When we appreciate that the Superbowl is the biggest sporting event on the planet perhaps then we could host it?

Im an nfl fan have been for years but the superbowl is the biggest event in american sport not in world sport. Champions league is way bigger.

soccer? you mean football?

and yes of course it is far far bigger than american football, because it's a worldwide sport. As for Brits being insular? i presume that is an ironic statement given the condition of the american sports?

American football was simply adapted from Rugby football which is one of many reasons why it will never be bigger than real football.

so when we belive something thats not true we can have it?

for starters its a non contest the olympics win hands down, then the world cup, then champions league.

in fact NFL gets at best 150 million viewers, while champions league final averages 300 million. while estimates of the last world cup final are at 300 million.

Football will saturate the asian sporting market very soon aswell. while americans are the best advertisers in the world they are backing a product which isn't entertaining from a sporting point of view. stop start and really has little cultural history accross the world.
