p4p champ claim is just a joke! Ricky Hatton is a great fighter but by beating someone who started his career over 2 stone lighter than him and has moved up to challenge fighters with huge physical advantages...Pah! If Diaz beat Pacman last time out would people be calling him p4p champion!...Re the Mayweather fight lets face it Ricky was out classed and if he was a p4p champ he would of found a way to win with the ref against him or not!

But if Hatton can beat Pac it will mean a lot. Because noone of recent times has been able to defeat Pac, so if Hatton could do it, it would mean he has done better than anyone. Not counting Pacs earlier careers losses of course.

But it would be great to see Hatton in Ring magazine as p4p no1

Didn't know Pacman had suffered three losses, two by knock out. Always thought he wasn't beaten so far.
Maybe Hatton should get really fit and from the opening bell get stuck into the Pacmans body with the most savage attack he has ever launched in his life for the first couple of rounds and then go for the knock out.
Still it is a hard one to call.

If Hatton should fight Mayweather again, I would insist on the light welterweight limit, as this would be only fair.

Even is Hatton wins he is no way P4P champ. This is all British Media Hype but it seems Hatton believes he will be P4P champ if he wins.

I fancy Manny to win late (9or10). Although Hatton has defo improved under FMS, his hand speed is much better along with his combo punching, I can see Manny frustrating Ricky and Ricky going back to the brawler style and then Manny picking him off for a couple of rounds and then KO him. Remember Manny's KO over Diaz, straight left from very close in and it was lights out (although Manny has battered Diaz for 8 odd rounds)

If Hatton can keep focused for the whole fight he has a great chance just personally don't see this happening, the natural instinct will kick in and the better boxer will win.

Should be a super fight though....

'A good big `un will always beat a good little `un' as the saying goes.

Put your money on it - Hatton mid-to-late rounds

i think the problem for hatton is that he does not really believe in his new style himself. Unless he sees instant results he will be back running in and taking 3 or 4 hits just to get one in himself. Deep down he does not trust the new style.

first off i want anyone on here to explain to me how ricky hatton believes that beating the pacman will make him the new PFP king? wise up ricky will you.in order for that to happen a boxer has to have many fights with top top fighters and win and usually over one or two weight divisions.lets see,the collazo fight? hmm good win or gifted a win after getting beat up? the urango fight? hmm i wonder.laboured win? the castillo fight? hmm i wonder? hand picked old fighter? MAYWEATHER? no question there.hatton got destroyed.rickys home coming fight im manchester? sorry i cant remember the fighters name but i remember a poor hatton performance but a win non the less.paul the magic man? a pillow fight as paulie coughs harder than he punches.easy easy win for ricky, and all of a sudden rickys bubble is floating again and some how he gets the pacman fight lol.

my point is this...hatton generates big money with his huge fan base who travel to see him.this is what gets him these fights with the likes of mayweather and now pacman.MONEY makes the boxing world go around.the fact that ricky hasnt got a real world title like a WBC OR IBF is a joke.he has a pathetic IBO belt which is just that,a joke.the new wbc and wba light welter champ would eat up ricky hatton.im sick and tired of hearing about hatton as the 140lb king when in reality hes dodging all real world ranked contenders in the likes of the wbc wba ibf etc.
hatton is just a strong come forward hooker, with no jab and no defence.mayweather will tell you that.

Some of the comments from the Hatton fanboys are comical!

I am not going to sit here and ridicule every point, but let you know that your man is in for a shock. I think that this fight is unfair on Hatton because he obviously doesent have the ability to fight at this level, and he wouldnt if it wasn't for his marketability. It will tarnish his reputation despite the fact he is a decent fighter. He will be demolished in this fight and I just can't see how he will make it past 6 rounds.

Hattons comments about Pacquaio sound pretty arrogant to me. Where is this humble, down to earth guy we all hear about? Its typical Hatton, won't shut his mouth until it gets a good smack!

So rather than point out why you think Manny will demolish Ricky you slate everyone else for being stupid and offer up no rhyme or reason for this resounding Pacman win.

Good stuff............

For me once you get passed a certain level theres absolutely no need to have any of the belts which all hold little meaning these days. He beat the best at 140 and is still the man to beat at 140 which is why he holds the Ring belt.

I'm not sure how you think Hatton has dodged anyone. He chased Mayweather who was the best pound for pound fighter in the world, he's now going after Manny Pacquiao, hardly the signs of a man ducking fighters. I agree Malignaggi was useless, but he would have been IBF light welterweight champion when they met if the IBF hadn't stripped him of it for taking Hatton. The belt was then fought for by Juan Urango and Herman Ngoudjo, two men defeated in the not so distant past by Hatton and Malignaggi respectively, giving even less creditbility to world title straps in boxing these days.
