Does any one know if they actually have tested a second car yet or was all running done on one chassis???

If today is a first outing for a new chassis then if i was the driver i know i would want the tried and tested one.

If im wrong then this is all pointless but if im right then Ross has to decide who gets the 'good' one.

Well Fisi will be getting the good one for sure. Seems silly to me only testing one car. Its things like this that will keep Force India at the back of the grid.

Even if it was one car that was practiced on, they are not two different cars, they are Twins... If BMW makes a road car like the M5, u dont see one M5 being faster than the other and one not turning properly, its the same. so the cars are same pace, weather it was only one tht was ran or not. But neway just to confirm to u, there was a particular practics session tht both jens and ruby ran together.

I get that two cars can be made the same. That is pretty obvious. Two different drivers though require two set ups and arrangements like brake length, throttle responce etc etc which you already know and i feel stupid saying it.

If it were me i would want to have had my set ups already done and dusted on the chassis i would be using for the weekend with a good few miles on the clock on it.
I would then feel much happier going into a the first weekend concentrating on car set up.

I'm sure most of the set up can be done before the driver even sees the car. I would expect the team's computers will have worked out the optimum setup for each driver and so all that would be required is a quick 'fine tune'.
For that psycological reassurance though I'd want a car that was well tested.

Making my response to Sarah Holt's article, and the Brawn resurgence, I would remind her and all the 'so-called' experts how many times they have gone off half-cocked with predictions. Remember how Alonso was going to be the greatest ever, then after last year it was going to be Hamilton, and here we are, starting the season with a brand new set of favourites. Holt qualifies her article by suggesting that Brawn will have difficulty maintaining their advantage but actually has nothing to back up that 'speculative' opinion.
I would suggest that if these people never figured out yet, that (as my daughter put it) betting against Ross Brawn is not the smartest bet one could make, then their predictions will continue to be shot down.

@Douggielee:

How do you know...or shouldn't I ask? whistle

@Canadiancharles:

Its too early in the season for anyone to come to any conclusions, backed by solid evidence. However, anyone who has followed F1 for long enough, would make an educated guess that the likes of Ferrari and McLaren will upgrade and improve their cars over the next few races.

Williams and Sauber looked pretty close and I'm guessing Alonso won't be slow in giving the Renault engineers the hurry-up.

While things look good for Brawn at the moment, its pretty likely at least 2 or 3 other teams will be giving them serious competition in the near future.

It doesn't take a genius (or any concrete evidence) to figure that out. erm

For the record, I would love to see Jensen and Rubens still in with a shout of the title towards the end of the season. The odd are long, but if anyone can make it happen, Ross Brawn is the man (the one thing I would agree on).

It was a wonderful race last night, It was good to see Button and Barrichelo again in podium, It is also very interesting to see how the man who put Ferrary back to winning streaks is now leading a team and has made a quick turnaround in just more than a year after joining the Honda team by end of 2007. I worked for two big Japanesse corporations and can tell you about the management philosophy, being very top down, I wonder is this suits a very fast and competitive environment like F1. Look at Toyota, lots of money, but no results, the Brawn case may be something to explore for management lectures.

Wish you all have a wonderful 2009 season, it was about time for F1 to become more competitive.applause

Regards,

I do not watch GP as consistently as some of you. Not since the days of Mansell, Senna, Prost. It seems ridiculous that a team give up for a season and are allowed to stay in the competition just because they are prepared for next season. The teams might as well have remote control racing because it looked like any driver with a car geared up with all the technical changes could win.
I presume the emphasis will be on the best technical engineers and not the drivers this year.

That's always been the way with F1, it's an engineers sport.

I've been watching F1 for nearly 4 decades and I can remember countless times when the best engineered car has run away from the others.

Remember the Lotus ground effect cars, or the Newey designed 3 pedal McLaren or the 90's Williams?
