Yet another player signing on as a Kolpak to help reduce the first-team chances for young english-born players! What is english cricket coming to. In the future there could be a farcical situation in which England would not be able to play against another country in a test match purely because the selectors cannot find any english-born cricketer who is playing first XI cricket for one of the county teams.

It's time to do something about this Kolpak lunacy. It's ruining cricket for me. How can any side fielding five, six, even seven overseas players in some instances be any good for English cricket?

Great signing for Surrey given he'll be a Kolpak... I agree that it is getting stupid the way these guys can just come in like this and not be counted as overseas - can't be helping the English young talent to come through when any gaps are filled with Kolpaks.

another kolpak player! and the counties plead poverty yet they can entice these players with so much money that they turn their backs on their countries and test careers! the ecb tell us that more people are playing cricket now than anytime before: so why is there such a dearth of talent coming through the county game i ask?

Finally somebody has humoured me ... I'm able to have a serious cricket discussion as well as the rest of them and understand the arguments being expressed here but I just wanted have some corny admittedly fun with it as Andre Nel is miles better than your average club player of course and useful in short bursts at international level but mostly he's a bit of a joke on account of his seeming mental instability (and that's not being disrespectful to the truly mentally ill) and crankiness when things don't go his way ...so cheers!

There could be a farcicial situation in the future in which every county plays just overseas + kolpak-qualified players in the first XI teams, without any English-born player present.

What's everybody going on about? Its not as though Surrey are signing lots of Kolpak players. Its great that we have finally signed a half decent strike bowler. We might actually stand a chance of getting out of div 2 now. Pity Surrey got rid of Saqlain. We have had a much better bowling attack!
