Carl Froch doesn't deserve to be in the...

...same sentence as Joe Calzaghe. How does he get away with calling out Joe so much. He's slow, no head movement, comes straight in, fights with his hands down which he doesn't have enough speed to be doing effectively and has no chance against Joe. Joe would do to him what he did to Lacy in my opinion. So why is he getting away with calling out Joe so much !!!

I don't think Froch has much of a chance against Jermain Taylor, his lack of head movement, speed and him fighting with his hands down wont work against Taylor. I do believe that Taylor doesn't always show up, and thats the only way i see Froch winning to be honest. If Taylor is up for it he could beat Froch with one hand and one punch (the Jab). His quick and powerful jab should be enough to win him the fight.

I really can't decide on the outcome of this. Based on skill and experience I'd go with Taylor. But Froch will show all the heart and has the power to really trouble Jermaine. I hope this will be enough for Carl, as this would see him land the mega fights, and catapult him into JC's league.

I enjoy watching Froch figh mainley because he gets stuck in and his defence isn't the best so he takes a lot of shots as well!!

I think he defo has a chance against Taylor!! Although hopefully he will have worked on his defence otherwise he might be eaten mat!!

With regards to people comparing him to Joe, I'm sorry but hes not in the same class as Joe!! If they ever did fight I think Joe would mess his face up just due to his lack of defence and the amount of shots Joe throws!!

There seem to be a lot of Calazaghe haters on these boards for some reason! People saying he ducked fighters etc and that he only took on hopkins and Roy jones way past there best!!

On the Jones situation I would agree he was a very pale shadow of his former self but with regards to Hopkins I'm not so sure!! Didn't Hopkins go on to beat Pavlik?? A guy who beat and knocked out Taylor!!

IMAO Calzaghe is a great fighter he got me into boxing so owe him that he was exciting to watch!

i think froch does they should have fought ages ago, carl would do it for free and if joe thinks that it would be a walk in the park and an easy win then why doesnt he accept the fight and enhance his record. i think in we are about to see how good froch is when he fight taylor people are saying he isnt quick enough etc pavlik beat taylor an i think froch has much more speed, and power than him and a killer jab. hopefully he does more boxing less brawling in the taylor fight and improves his defence and i seriously think everyone will be in for a shock.

JC is a better boxer than Froch. But froch has power so makes things a bit more exciting.
I think he will do well against JT. JT hasnt really impressed me much apart from the wins against BH he hasnt looked that good really or delievered the goods.
It will be Frochs toughest test to date though. It will be a close fight and one im not willing to make a prediction on.

JC was a better boxer than Froch but that doesn't necessarily mean that Froch wouldn't be a more worthy challenger than at least 15 of the men that JC defended his title against. I think that people confuse this issue with the comparisons between the two.

I've got a horrible feeling that Froch might throw it all away and let Taylor take the initiative in the fight. Maybe it's just pessimism as the fight draws near. I'll no doubt do a different thread on how each man could win nearer the time but in brief:

Froch needs to make Taylor fight in the trenches. Taylor has shown over the past couple of years that he's more of an athlete/boxer than a warrior. There's no shame in that, it takes all sorts and JT's had a lot of success that way. Looking at the second Pavlik fight it seems clear that JT doesn't like or want a war - he wants to dominate and box like he did against Lacy.

For JT to win of course all that he has to do is out manoeuvre Froch and beat him to the punch for the first few rounds. When Froch starts to get more desperate he could either punch himself out or go steaming in and get picked off. This is based on his style of fighting rather than his previous fights but I don't think that any of his opponents have been as athletic as JT.

It really will be a case of JT's head vs Froch's heart. The outcome will depend more on JT's state of mind - if he falters he's going to spend 12 rounds running, if he keeps his head he should counter and box to a win. Froch's heart could see him land the money shot or bulldoze his man, or conversely it could lead to him rushing headlong into counter punches all night.

For one reason or another, I've followed Froch for a while. I alway thought he wouldn't make it to Britsh level and he did. Said the same thing about European level, but he proved me wrong. I said he'd never get a world title but he has. So I'm just gonna stop saying it.

JT looks the better fighter but I'm not writing Froch off, he keeps proving me wrong!

Good luck to him, hope he can knock out JT!

Just saw this trailed off the main page.

How can anyone think Jermain Taylor - serial duffer-up of light middleweights - is going to have an easy time with granite jawed super middle Carl Froch?

Froch might not win, but I don't see Taylor having anything but a torrid night. I have to remind myself that taylor got those points decisions against Popkins, otherwise I'd be very confident calling a Notts win.

As it is, I hope - really hope - that the Cobra can unleash a few bombs and deposit Mr Taylor on his rear end.

I dont think JT now could beat the BH we see nowadays. But yes i think JT must be very good to have a BH on his resume. It just might be the highlight of his career and everything is downhill now.

But this is a defining fight for JT whoever wins. We will finally see if Froch is all mouth, and substance.
