Who wants to be an England coach?

comment on the article
The leading contenders for the England job

And so begins the search for Peter Moores successor.
news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cri...

Australians John Buchanan - a man who led his country to 25 Test series victories in 27 - and the highly rated Tom Moody have both rejected offers to put their names forward for the role.

England assistant coach Andy Flower, Warwickshire director of cricket Ashley Giles, Kent head Graham Ford and Australian Dav Whatmore are among the leading candidates for the job.

Some reports have suggested Flower is now the main contender for the job, while Ford had not applied for the job a day before the deadline day on Friday 6 March.

So who would you like to see succeed Peter Moores? Are there any outside contenders worth keeping an eye out for? And what chances will the new man have of creating a cohesive unit in time for the Ashes?

let me know your thoughts.

Can't see an outstanding candidate amongst the 4 mentioned.Ford may not have applied and his run with Kent hasn't been outstanding.Giles is not experienced enough.Flower was to Moores,as Adams was to Rednapp, only a good number2.Don't know the other guy.
Obvious choice ,particularly with the Ashes coming up is Mickey Arthur. But you won't/cant get him.

NickTractorBoy - Ford's South African team beat just about everyone except Australia. I think he can therefore be described as a "proven international coach".

Is that all the leading candidates? No-one really high profile. Ex players dont sometimes make good managers or coaches but one the following Dean Jones, one of the Waugh brothers, Graham Thorpe, one of the chappell brothers or Wasim Akram? If not one of them I don't mind flower.

'Dav Whatmore's a risky choice (feel he might get people's backs up).'

------------------

That's exactly what this team needs - a kick up the backside to realize they're far off from being world beaters.

We need someone who is not caught up in current cycle of English cricket, whether that be county or international. i.e. not Giles, Flower or Ford.

Moody and Buchanan would have been right for the role - clearly they have too much sense to take on the job, so Whatmore it is!

Stephen Fleming......great Batsman, one of the great captains with a very average team (should feel at home with some our selectors choices!!), l think he will have great strength as a Coach, him and maybe a change of selector
(Geoff Miller-WHO!!) l think we could start to claw back some ground and maybe compete this summer with our convict friends from the land of Drought!
oh, and a new bowling coach (or the old good one back£££££££££££)...please!

Two very simple very easy words...

Shane and Warne.

He consistantly takes cricket to new heights and after seeing some of his work at Hampshire (he basically managed the team at times) he is more then what England needs.
