Live text - West Indies v England

England
comment on the article

Right then, two (and a bit) Tests down, two to go, England 1-0 down.

A humiliating defeat in Jamaica was followed by a frustrating draw in Antigua - if the curve of improvement continues in the same vein England will win this fourth Test in Barbados and wrap up the series victory inside two days in the final outing in Trinidad, right?!

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cri...

That said, things might not be quite plain sailing for Andrew Strauss's England boys (a statement almost as obvious as saying Kevin Pietersen quite likes himself) - key all-rounder Freddie Flintoff is out injured, wicket-keeper Matt Prior has returned home after the birth of his baby son and Steve Harmison looks so out of touch he may as well don a bright pink shellsuit and go raving in an underground garage.

The news is that Ravi Bopara, Ryan Sidebottom and Tim Ambrose are IN, Andrew Flintoff, Steve Harmison and Matt Prior are OUT. I have to say, I like the look of that, but what do you lot think?

As always, get involved throughout the day's play on here and I'll do my best to post the best (and the worst) in my commentary... make yourselves web famous for 15 minutes people...

Bell did establish himself lower down the order then got moved back to three. I still think that if Vaughan gets back on track then he is our best bet at 3 going into the Ashes. Not saying drop Shah as such, Collingwood also needs to show he can consistently score rather than just when his place is at risk

people are looking beyond Shah because they are fickle idiots. When strauss got out in the first test, we had one person talking about who should now be the captain!!

Thank god these people are not selectors. They all talk about selectors choosing their mates, but at any oppertunity they will blindly champion their own personal choice at the expense of whoever is in his place. Rob Key is the classic example. Total failure at test level, but because people wanted him as captain (!!!) after a good 20/20 tournament (laughable!), they need to get him back in the side at the expense of Shah now

Quite pathetic really how little people know about the sport, and how over the top their kneejerk reactions are.

Adamblue, don't worry. Shah will get at least until the end of the return series in England. If, by then, he hasn't made a solid case and someone else is in prime form, we'll see.

I worried about his consistency before he was picked, having been a regular follower of Middlesex and, unfortunately, he is not dispelling those doubts. I wish, for England's sake, that he would! He may just need one big innings to settle him, but the longer that it takes to come, the harder it will get.

I don't want to appear pessimistic, but is our biggest opponent in this game the good old Blighty weather? You can normally guarantee that when something good is about to happen for England in this country, Mr. Rain will water on our parade.

I bet that's what Ponting is praying for right now, persistent precipitation.
