Fantastic News Re: Neill, Green and Upson

Premier League West Ham United

Trio to land new Hammers deals

West Ham are hoping to tie down Lucas Neill, Matthew Upson and Robert Green to new contracts at the club in the near future.

On Friday Scott Parker signed a new deal at Upton Park which should end the interest of Manchester City who had wanted to sign him, and now boss Gianfranco Zola wants the other three top stars to follow suit.

The fact the Hammers are offering new deals to their top players ends once and for all talk of the club being in financial trouble and shows they are heading in the right direction.

This is absolutely fantastic news and I can see a great long term future for the club with all these players tying up 5 year deals. We now have a great backbone in the squad. Long term commitments are now:

Green
Neill
Upson
Parker
Noble
Cole
Sears
Ashton
Collison

We just need to get Collins, Ilunga and Behrami on board then everythings looking rosy for the Irons.

A little thought here. Is everyone glad that Zola didn't listen to those on here who were clamouring for us to buy Bullard in the Jan. window.

both players will worth more if he signs new contract, especially green. many top clubs are tracking him for sometimes now.

I don't really rate Neill, and deffo overpaid for what he does... he is slow and gets caught out to often. Green, on the other hand should be kept on, and paid on a level with the others, and it should be him given the captaincy or Parker, as they're the only two that have a tongue in their heads.

I agree with this completely. Neill is a lazy, good for nothing, slow poke, with a questionable attitude and should not be the captain.

In my view, when players sign long contracts is does show a measure of support for the club and helps to stabilize it. Satisfied players play well.

Chelsea had dissension creeping into its side and they lost their composure. In last week's game Man City's 32 mill' pound player hardly had a kick of the ball. When players have things on their mind they're better off not putting their boots on.

Wether or not you like certain players is irrelevant. The answer is, keeping a happy ship.

For those complaining about Lucas Neill - he is apparently a top captain and massively respected and liked by his fellow players. He has a positive influence around the place. Although last season was not his best, he has played well overall this season and has struck a very good understanding with Behrami. I think him signing a new contract is a major boost for the club, the manager and his fellow players.

I have to admit I am getting a liking for Neill this season. He seems to care about the club and wants to be here. Ok he has his ups and downs, maybe more downs than ups, but who doesn't? Good news about the contracts being offered and the future is bright, the future is Claret & Blue!!! COYI

i do not like neil, i do not think he is good enough for the premier league anymore, i dont dount his ability as a captain, i think he is a decent one but i wud like to see it given to upson or parker, i heard from so called 'Experts' (was quite a while ago) hanson and (cnt remember who else) that green isn't loud enough in the area and doesnt order his defenders around. just what i heard, seems to be doing a pretty good job from where im sitting
