The horse was never going well-connections must have known he wasn't fit.

Madison Du Berlais is getting zero credit from most here, he is a genuine contender for the Gold Cup.

I was already on Kauto for the Gold Cup but I felt sorry for Denman yesterday, he so wasn't the horse we saw last year. Makes you think how amazing Kauto is for staying healthy and so consistant year after year, he really is under appreciated.

Unlike Mill House who had an enormous heart but very delicate front legs Denman has had or still has a heart problem. He did not look right from the start. The horse has a huge handicap: heart problems will often be the end of a career. He needs to be carefully nurtured, and if necessary should not run at all in the Gold Cup. The welfare of the horse must be paramount and I assume that Nicholls will do the right thing. I thought the winner gave an encouraging performance, he skipped around Kempton but yes Cheltenham is a much tougher ask.

Denman finished weary in the gold cup that may have been to much, the kindest thing for connections would be retire now for the sake of the horse.

denman still beat albertas run 23 lengths on saturday. if i am not mistaken didnt kauto only beat him 6 or 7 lengths in the king george over course and distance? i think everyone is underestimating the quality of madison de berlais performance on sat if that horse stays the extra 3 furlongs at cheltenham i cant see kauto getting anywhere near him. laying kauto all day long at the odds, only 2 runs ago he got beat by snoopy loopy who is no world beater.

Denman is finished. Massively surprised if he even runs in the Gold Cup. Nicholls will probably give him all next year off and that will be that.

Perhaps Harry Findlay should have been a little more humble last year when Denman beat Kauto Star. It's called hubris and he is paying for it now.

With Neptune Collanges winning yesterday and Kauto Star back to his best, there will be no question of Denman running. The connections should not even consider it.

One race and he is being written off.I think Paul will run him in the Gold Cup and the way Ruby rode him for the last mile in the race he definately was not fit. Lets remember this was his 1st race for 11 months after a heart problem on ground that he normally would not have been running on and on a track that does not suit. He has won 2 and been placed 2nd in his last 3 years at the festival and overall has never been out of the 1st 2 in any race. At least give him a chance to show what he is still capable of .Now doesn't the 5/1 e/w look like a bet to nothing
