So now he is there and will he succeed being able to play for england?I think so...He is so determined to play for his country that he is doing his best...whatever anybody says i think he is doing well.

Beckham is a model to not just soccer players but to all professionals....talent is one thing, nuturing it and consistently applying it is quite another.
Just go back to his last season at Real....how he came back from Capello's tirade! You do not get more professional than that!

Bet many of you laughed when the Milan sojourn was been talked about...you would have said Ronaldinho, Pato, Kaka, Seedorf where is he gonna get a game?

And his application to date answers all your doubts...Keep on going Beckham

too right avellino. liongeorge souns about as intelligent as those morons who boo the team at wembley...hes probably one of them come to that.
cheers rikkorit, obviously a true england fan.
the issue here isnt whether your a beckham fan or not, its whether you have some respect for a guy who is currently representing his country for the 108th time!
im in spain by the way and to a man every one of the spanish commentary team, ex-managers etc summarising appealed for beckham to come on because the rest havent done squat, and applauded him when he equalled the record.
shameful that so many so-called patriots on here cant do the same

When all of you Beckham lovers get over yourselves and look at last night's game objectively. You will see that, collectively, we were totally outclassed by a much better team and we have a mass of work to do if we are to make any impression in the World Cup, assuming we qualify. However we have a panel of mostly young players who, with the right coaching and air time at this level, give us some hope.

The second half was played at the pace of a testimonial, to quote the commentators and pundits and was pretty irrelevant in terms of reaching any conclusions.

As for Beckham, more of the same. Played mostly out of position, one long ball and a decent through ball when the game was over. South Africa for him? I don't think so. Thankfully when Walcott is fit again Becks will be 3rd choice, if even!

I'm not saying he should be first choice, but that's pretty dismissive of the individual who created England's two best chances of the second half.

If you don't play him, where do the goals come from? At big tournaments, we only ever seem to score from free kicks and he's still up there with the best on those...

Beckham is basically irrelevant to England's chances of becoming a top side. England's chances in South Africa in 2010 will depend on the brilliant Ferdinand, on Rooney becoming the playmaker of the side, on Joe Cole's skills, on England finding a world-class keeper, and on a host of young players such as Young, Carrick, etc. Beckham making the squad is a non-issue.

How come everybody seems to be behind Beckham on this move? Opinions on his footballing ability aside, this is an obvious case of not honouring your contract.

If Ronaldo, Fabregas, Lampard or Gerrard stood up and said they want to play somewhere else, their fans would be up in arms saying that the player was a disgrace.

We all knew that the MLS was a pile of pap. We all knew he was going for the money and to build his branding. All those people saying he is an upstanding professional should hang their heads in shame. He is now a disgrace, someone who is bigger than a contract he wanted to sign. Sir Alex was right, nobody is bigger than the club and that's why Beckham had to go then! I hope LA Galaxy force him to stay and leave him to rot in the reserves there.

stafford-shuffler - I agree. You have to look at this from LA Galaxy's viewpoint.
They paid a lot of money for him (a ridiculous amount to be honest with his wage and bonuses etc) and the idea was that it was not only going to give LA Galaxy a great deal of revenue but also raise the profile of MLS.

Now Beckham wants out; no wonder LA Galaxy are aggrieved!
Of course, as we all know, he should never have gone there in the first place. I always like Beckham...a decent player and also he seemed to be a decent and likeable person.
However, I lost a lot of respect when he signed for LA Galaxy.
We all know though that he will get his way and he will be a Milan player very shortly.
