"The idea that England don't have the players to choose from is a lie and a myth."
**Please excuse the following rant**
Talented players what's more. England have class to choose from in pretty much every position one cares to think about, but the inherent problem is lack of experience.
For the last 6 years, players have been dropped into the Engalnd side with no backbone. Inexperience was being played with inexperience, and players were getting mauled on their debuts and beyond.
For me this was the main problem with the Robinson era. If we look at the team being employed and the youngsters being blooded should now have been the leaders of today.
In the backs players like Jamie Noon, Charlie Hodgson, Peter Richards, Titteral were all not up to the job of performing for england, but were all consistently selected. Others who had bit jobs had to step up at club level before being selected.
To see Jeremy Guscott say England don't have the talent that they used to is infuriating. If you look at the platform he had to work off during his career, it is little wonder that the England backs (despite Rob Andrew) could play champagne rugby.
England now have the chance to steady the ship and set course for a very bright future. We have bags of talent to pick from, all we need is the youngsters to start putting in performances at international level (easier said than done), and go from talented potential to international class players.
