good point ScottishWolf

McCormack was nothing special in the SPL. Rangers couldn't wait to sell him to Motherwell, and at Motherwell he made very little impression.

Berra is clearly not the finished article, but is a decent prospect, good in the air and pretty quick. The standard of football up here in Scotland is not as bad as many down south think, but having said that it is a step up to be going to Wolves. He'll have to improve playing in the championship, but McCarthy must believe he has the potential to do a decent job in the premiership too.

Overall I think he will be a good signing and certainly help your push for promotion. And he has a few months to learn and improve for the premiership.

Let's be honest, if he was some shady South American you'd all be singing from the rooftops. Open your eyes - he's a decent player. Possibly could of gone to a bigger club? Certainly the Old Firm are far bigger than any 'premiership-hopefull'. Just cos the English leagues have millions of doesn't mean you can buy a good reputation or fan-base. Kaka showed the way

Judging by the comments on the Hearts boards it looks like Mick has found another Gem smiley

Well I for one am over the moon about signing this lad. To a man the Jambos fans are praising him to high heaven and that will do for me. If we were selling Seb or Kights etc we would all be on here saying how good they are. Well thats exactly what the Jambos are doing on their boards, they cant all be wrong. Anyone who has watched some of our defending this season will know how desperate we are for a defender of this quality.

Probably the best centre half in Scotland right now, though Lee Wilkie might want to argue about. Would rather have seen him gone to Rangers, but I doubt we'd have had the money to sign him and I think if Celtic had nabbed him, he'd be above McManus and Caldwell in the pecking order.

Good luck to him!

Wolves fans - you've got the future Scotland captain here. Even though Hearts is my Scottish team, I think it's a good move for Berra. It shows he has the ambition and courage necessary to improve himself as a player.

i'd like to wish berra all the best & i'm sure he'll help you lot in your bid to gain promotion. he's a grat prospct & gets better & more composed every month it seems.

However, a bit a class from your manager wouldnt go a miss. It was Berras agent who leaked it to the press that a bid had been initially turned down (to radio clyde) not Hearts FC, so an aplogy wouldnt go a miss. although from that idiot i wouldnt expect one. nothing against wolves fc, but i've always hated McCarthy. all the best for the remainder of the season & hopefully if you do get promotion, we'll get more money from the deal! ok

McCarthy is one of the most straight forward straight talking managers about - and we love him for it. Now whilst it may have been his agent who leaked it, there was still no call forthcoming from Hearts - when did they intend on letting us know? They didn't handle themselves too professionally I'm sorry to say.

Maybe Big Mick did get the wrong end of the stick in blaming the jambos for the press leak but Wolves always do their buisness on the quiet and it's understandable he was irate even if he got the wrong culprit.
