Dean Sheils off to Doncaster

Scottish Premier Hibernian
comment on the article

This may seem like a WUM but its not, Jambo in peace!

But its on Sky Sports News just now.

He's down at Donny right now in talks, and Hibs are keen to get a fee of around 100k before the window closes.

Thoughts?

You've gotta be disappointed when two of the key members of your squad are linked with English Div1/Div2 teams for a combined fee of about 200k? Surely Petrie needs to be thinking bigger than that!?

It looks like another penny pinching job on the wage front by the tache!

Come on even you Jambos would agree that playing for a team that the majority of the time is in the top 6 with a chance each year for europe would be better than a relegation dogfight in the Championship down South and that is the main reason Cov won't lure Driver either.

I wouldn't like to see Dean Shiels go anywhere, but it seems to be inevitable we will lose at least one first team regular before the deadline.

I see Richie Foran (ex-Motherwell) has left Southend United, so if Shiels does go to Doncaster and Fletcher to Celtic, would he want to come to Hibs and could we afford him? He was a decent player at Motherwell, but has not fulfilled his expectations down south.

I honestly don't think we can hope for any better, but would love to be proved wrong.

I feel sorry for Deano but i cannot blame him for moving. I have always believed he deserved better at Hibs. He always gave 110% for Hibs and week in week out was seen as the player that changed the game yet he never got a good run in the team. I will be sad to see him go but i cannot blame him and he is a player i wish the best of luck to.
As for Jones going, if it wasnt so late in the window i'd of said good riddance to him, it's just unfortunate that we don't have time to get in a replacement but i saw in the evening news last night Hibs said no to 500k for him, i'd take 50k for him. Don't believe he is good enough.
Fletcher has talked a good game in terms of his aims and not moving etc but lets see what happens now. If he is going to leave i hope it isn't to Glasgow but down south but i hope for his and scotland's sake he goes to a team where he will play. Hopefully Deek and Ian Murray will give him some good advice before he does anything but 21 years old and a chance to treble his wages, sounds more realistic to what he would do when it comes to the crunch.

Gotta admit, I dont think Hibs treated Deano the best.
Good they stuck by him during the whole eye situation, and for what happened, he is a great player.
He really should have got a longer run in the team, brilliant players bags of talent and was seen as an impact player which he clearly wasn't.

Wish him all the best if he goes, but I really hope he stays, one of the best players at the club and it will be sad to see him go.

hi im a doncaster fan and i am looking forward to seeing this lad play for us as we play a beutiful passing game and i hear thats his talent so ahould settle nicelsoory for hibs of course! but first team opportunities are what players want. oh and to reply to a post we have a very good chance of beating the drop. were unbeaten in 2009 and are out of the zone. and with the football we play were bound to get the results we need.

just a question though do any of you people know how much this deal is worth to hibs? by the way do any of u ppl no how much this deal will see hibs receive??? please do post.

If he's as good as most of you are saying, and can score a few goals too then he could be what we need to avoid the drop!

mate hes the most creative player in the hibs team.

he is completely underated should be in our international team more often. worthington just doesnt rate him.

only bad thing about his game is he isnt a physical enough player.
hibs r loosing a great player for a very little sum of money

just shows how much 'football fans' know about other clubs. let me just say doncaster rovers v hibs would be a one sided affair and that would be a drfc win, you obviously havent seen us play and look at the league table and make assumptions. hopefully shiels can make a difference upfront which has been our downfall over the season (along with bad refereeing and occasional head-scratching tactics and player selection) along with heffs and brooker and hopefully byfield they will score quite a few between them.

Take a look at our form now Hibs fans (well just the doubters)winkeye we're top of the division on form having recently beaten both of the fashionable Sheffield teams. It sounds like Sheils is the kind of player that will fit right in. I hope he gets a good run out tomorrow against Bristol.
