But not the Pele we thought! Here take a look at this: www.skysports.com/story/0,19...
So, it's not Yohann Pele, it's a Portugese midfielder from Porto, Pele. And Hayden Mullins. I for one have never heard of this guy... bit of a gamble, don't you think?

Your thoughts.

EDIT: The Pele lad is 21 and has come on loan 'till the end of the season. Could this be a way of saving money for Saviola, possibly??

They dont try to emulate the brazilians, Ronaldo is named after Ronald Reagan it has nothing to do with football, and Pele its just a nickname he got in his childhood

Having taken the hot seat after the departure of an inspirational manager, the last thing Adams needs is the perpetual sniping which the Pompey Pessimists indulge in at every opportunity.
.
Thank goodness a lot of the fans don't share their dismal views.
.
Good Luck Pompey.

Despite his advancing years, Pele is still surprisingly quick over the first 10 yards. Should be a useful addition.

I would like to say that unlike what is reported by the BBC in these pages, Pele is not an attacking midfielder, but a defensive midfielder. He is tall, well built, tactically aware, protects the ball well, and has a fierce shot that is always useful when he ventures forward. To me he is a direct replacement of Lassana Diarra. Best of luck for him and for Pompey!

Well these two really came out of the blue, to be honest i never knew there are so many pele's around. I want these guys to do well, as unfortunately theyve fallen out of the limelight. I don't care whether they can do a stepover or not as long as they work hard for the team cause thats what we need at the moment, passionate, hard-working players.

I have to say when i saw this morning that we'd sold Hayden I was pretty gutted.
He's been a very unsung player for WHU, prowling round our midfield tidying everything up. He's also played well in other areas when required. Doesn't do anything flash just gets on with it quietly.
Once I saw his quotes about new challenges and first team football I could fully see his reasons for moving on.
Thank you Hayden and good luck to you mate.
You've done a great job.applause

I know this is slightly off topic but I have to get this off my chest. Tony Adams, as much as I like the bloke as a person, is the worst manager of the Premiership. He will get you guys relegated- no dig at Pompey fans here- its just the most diabolical interim management appointment I have seen in my lifetime. He has troubles communicating and doesn't look like he has the intelligence to manage a club of this stature. He completely messed up at Wycombe Wanderers- how in the world is he going to take Pompey forward??

You may well be right.
But don't judge him until he has had a chance to work with the players he actually wants at his club.
It's his first window and every manager should be given time to work at least 1 window and then judge them.

Man Utd fan here - in peace.

Have watched the Adams interview on Sky. How bloody refreshing to find a loyal manager !!!

Good on the bloke.

I worry about Portsmouth with big Tony in charge, only 3 points off the drop zone I would be concerned about the confidence of the side.

Hope he was not wathing some old videos of Pele...
