Wigan fan in peace just wondering what type of player Ben Watson is like? It looks like hes being bought to replace Wilson Palacios who was a box to box type player, great tackler and passer. Im not a fan of the prem clubs robbing the championship of its better players weve been on the receiving end of that over the years but if we do sign him hope its for a fair price.

He has been for the number of years our set-piece taker. His accuracy is usually spot on.
When we was in the premiership those years ago, he was easily one of our best players and he was only 19-21.
He has a very good future.

Saga over - he signed for Wigan not long ago, Good luck Ben and thanks.

This may sound stupid - whats the chance of getting Bostock on loan?

No replacement for Palacios, so don't expect the same kind of game from him. He's a box to box player, better going forward than covering at the back. He'll fit into Wigan's system, and he'll know Bruce from his time at Selhurst park.

Hopefully for Ben, they know what they are doing with him.

Strange one, ole Prince Harry, he is often criticised in the stands, yet when he is not playing it is extremely noticeable just how much we miss him on the pitch! I think the best is yet to come, he was a good player for Palace but it became evident he didn't fancy playing Championship level much longer, so rather than him go for free was nice to get couple million for him. His freekicks and corners are much improved, me and my mate used to say 'first man' every time he took a kick, and his tackling has also got a lot better. He can become a great player.

great business from brucey. 17.5 mill for wilson and emile. 2 mill only on watson, and two strikers brought in to the club. however if Zaki and Valencia go too, Wigan will be in a relegation fight next season.

Lets hope he turns out to as good of a signing as Emerson Boyce was!! The less said about Fitz Hall the better! <laugh>

I am a season ticket holder at Palace and have been for over 20 years and to be honest I am so pleased to see the back of Watson. He works hard but just is not good enough. He hits the 1st man with every corner, his free kicks and set peices are poor. He has a good penalty on him but you cant afford to have a player that wastes every dead situation. He never realised the potential he showed when he was younger, he just didnt develop into a good player....

Watson is the type of player that is neither an attacking midfielder or a defensive one...but somewhere in the middle. Doesnt score enough goals, is ok in the tackle but his passing and set pieces are his strengths when he's on song. His best season was when we were in the Premiership...maybe his game is suited better in the Prem when you have a bit more time on the ball and he can pick his passes...rather than the chaos you get in the CCC.

It's always been hit and miss with Ben. Sometimes i think 'wow what a player' then others i don't even notice him on the pitch.

But if you want to see him at his best it is usually in the big matches.

He was shining light in a sea of darkness in our playoff game (2nd leg) to Bristol City last season. That performance was superb (despite the agonising penalty miss!!!).

And probably 1 in 5 games he will run the show.

Is that enough? Only time will tell but despite his 'want away' mentality, i wish him all the best and hope he makes it.

I also hope we have some tasty add onns.

Poor old Ben he's made a mistake signing for Wigan (great little club)but he does't realise it yet, he will do when Brucie becomes Newcastle's Manager.
