Alnwick looked out of his depth at Burnley, whats he going to be like at Old Trafford?

Yes Alnwick is young and has potential, but for me he just didnt look the part. Got to feel sorry for him a bit, he`s been thrown in at the deep end a bit.

To my knowledge he has gone as Cover for their keeper which means it's not much different to him being here.

I wouldn't say that playing against Burnley in the League Cup is being thrown in a the deep end. As a Premiership player he can't expect to be playing games much easier than against a Championship team.
He'll have to show he can perform against Premiership sides sooner or later.

Lets not forget he's already played a good 15/20 games in the Prem for Sunderland.

However, this experience has counted for nothing - Going into a 2nd leg against a Championship side when we're already 4-1 up, isnt a lot of pressure to face. They had about 3 shots on target, and they all went in with 2 being his mistakes.

Doesnt fill you with confidence about his long term future here.

Alnwick has looked terrible evry time I have seen(granted thats only been a bout 4 times now but it;s etched in my ind)
Cesar was surely a better option the other night given his experience at least?
Alnwick didn't have hardly anything to do in the game and I suspect Cesar would have had the nous to position himself correctly for the free kick and let his defenders sort out the situation that led to the 3rd goal.

Hopefully we can get someone sle in sharpish.

There's a big difference between goal keeping in the Premier League and on the continent. In England keepers are expected to catch every high ball that comes their way. In Spain they just punch at everything. Maybe Sanchez looks dodgy trying to catch.

Unfortunately Alnwick did make two errors the other night. On another night maybe they wouldn't have been punished so harshly but against Burnley they caused us to concede. Alnwick has got another game on the trot to pick himself up - lets first just see how he gets on at the weekend...

Cesar actually will play some games for Valencia given that their no. 1 is injured and out for some time. If he impresses, who knows?

And if he was good enough to bench Iker Casillas and play in a Champions' League Final for Real Madrid he should have been good enough to play a few games for Spurs!

According to the BBC article from when Cesar joined Spurs, he even played for Spain once, so he CAN'T be so awful to warrant the lack of respect that Rednapp has given him (snide comments about having nobody else than Gomes, not having confidence in him).
I just have the impression that Rednapp is getting a bit vindictive, particularly towards anything from the Ramos era.

Alnwick i remember played his debut for sunderland against arsenal at highbury granted arsenal won that game comftable 3-1 but if it werent for Alnwick it would ave been atleast 8 maybe 9 or 10 so u shuld give him a chance i rekon he made a mistake jioning spurs tbh

" Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has been linked with a move for Chelsea reserve keeper Carlo Cudicini but on Friday he revealed: "I'm nowhere near signing Cudicini." " - What a cheeky b*stard!
