I am new to this site so don't be too critical. I have been extremely frustrated with the lack of first team chances that robbie keane has been given this season. Scoring two against a dangerous bolton team and then being dropped for the newcastle game. How will that affect his confidence he plays really well and then is dropped. Also the transfer rumours cannot help, however seing his reaction to the double against bolton he is a man that wants to prove his worth, not a man that wants to return to spurs. The stoke game also baffled me playing kuyt (a reformed winger) upfront when 42 Million of strikers were on the bench. Hopefully we will stuff the toffee's on monday and return to top form. Come on u red men.

Off memory I think Keane started more or less all the premier league games up until Man City and then was only dropped once more from starting line ups leading up to Xmas period... He was then dropped for two games on the bounce and then came back with 3 goals in two consec games...

He's now missed two more starts against Newc & Stoke so hopefully he'll bang in another 3 against the Blues :----------)

I think he's been given more than enough chances but has basicaly been poor!

I agree it was a big mistake not starting him with FT against stoke. Even more so due to Rafa's accurate but mistimed rant at scvm.

Nice to see Rushie's article today though!

When Keane first came to Liverpool he was playing every week, and for a long while he couldnt find a goal. After he scored a couple, it seems he is not playing as much, which seems quite odd.
The same thing did happen with Crouch, who was pretty much benched everytime he scored a goal.
So Benitez believes scoring a goal means you need to punish a player by leaving him out. What an odd little man he is!!!

"Benitez has never playe 2 upfront in his entire managerial career.I hardly think he'll start now."

What are you talking about? We do have to tolerate these people who just have no idea of what they are saying. He has played Torres and Keane together, upfront, especially with Kuyt starting too and wide right. One match RB started Kuyt wide right, Riera left, Mascherano/Alonso with Gerrard, Torres and Keane starting. Now, in your infinite wisdom, where in that starting line-up do you think Keane was playing??

Such a <donut>.

Barry, always, always trying to be smart. Dont talk about mis-treatment of strikers when you have Tevez.

A utd fan in Peace

I have to say it is very foolish from all of us fans saying the title is ours. When 1. we are not even top yet 2. there is a hell of long way to go yet.

Also just wanted to comment on this article. Although i cant stand Liverpool i really admire Benitez. I have to admit with a budget not as big as ours or Chelsea, he has managed to form a team that has won euro cups and to title challengers. I think that is quite impressive, so although some of his selection choices to seem surprising, really who are we to question his logic when you see his results.

I just when to add that i think liverpool will be very dangerous in the second half of this season because of Benitez selection changes most of Liverpool players will be quite fresh. This is one of the reasons why keane has not played in every game and Benitez is looking to play him more in the business hand of the season.

one final comment i cant believe who guys haven't sorted out his contract yet. If i were liverpool i would give him everything he wanted you will be mad to let him go. Though as utd fan it would be fantastic

cfawbert - totally agree with your proposal for a 4-4-2 against the lesser teams, and 4-5-1 against the tougher teams.

When we signed Keane all the talk was about how exciting he and Torees would be up front together, but i don't think they have played a single minute together this season.

If we want to win this Premier League then we had better grab the bull by the horns and take a positive approach to the up coming fixtures; especially with the derby looming (twice).

Gerrard in central midfield with Alonso would be lethal combined with the two star strikers. Also Riera on the left and possibly Babel or Kuyt on the right would be such a good team.

A lot of 'United fans' (many of whom I suspect don't go to games)

-----------

I'm not a UTD fan, I'm a Liverpool fan, but how does them not going to the games make them worse fans?

They may have many reasons for not going to the games, but it doesn;t make them less of fans than those who do, and it doesn't make their opinions less meaningful.

.......................

Not going to games doesn't make a bit of difference if you are a decent fan.

But... If you don't go to games and constantly write articles and comments about how United will walk away with everything, it undermines what it means to actually support your club and gives us a bad name.

I know lots of people who 'support' their clubs and don't go to games, but thankfully very few of them are as arrogant and blinkered as many of the so-called fans on here.
