BOYD ON/OFF/ON/OFF/ON/OFF

Birmingham City

A lot of goings on in relation to the Boyd transfer:

Alex McLeish made it quite clear he will not sign players who do not want to play for Birmingham City that was obvious with Boateng.

In the background I would guess that he has spoken to Boyd prior to offer etc and if Boyd indicated he didnt want to play for Blues then McLeish would have killed the transfer dead.

Therefore in my opinion the player must have indicated to Eck that he would come to blues.

All that is happening in my opinion is the agent is rightly trying to get the best deal possible for his player the only downside to blues move is we have give the agent far too much time to play with. There are 3 weeks left in the window, the agent will use the media circus to drum up potential suitors as its now so widely publicised the TRANSFER FEE and the players WAGE DEMANDS, its the most detailed player contract in the press domain that I can ever remember.

Only rumour but Boyd was prevented from travelling to St Andrews by his agent and then his agent gave the demands to Karen Brady. I know a lot of players have now taken to using this method because looking into someones eyes and demanding more can be a little uncomfortable for many characters.

Myself personally I would sit there bold as brass face to face and make my demands but then again why pay an agent and go through all that hassle!!!

Personally I have been told by some good sources that its still very much a viable transfer and I hope he signs but there comes a time when perhaps the club need to perhaps up the basic by £5k per week set a deadline of around 5 days and stick to it. Its one thing having a failed high profile transfer its another to allow it to hinder team development.

Well thats silly.

If Boyd did not want to move then he could just say no not interested, even if you offered me £40k a week!

If player 100% does not want to leave he would not have to go, the agent can go moan and cry all he wants.

As far as i am aware Agents get a small % on transfer fee and a larger one on Wages, so his agent is trying to get as good deal for Boyd as possible so the Agent can make as much cash as possibleok

I recon if Boyd is not signed by Saturday McLeish will look elsewhere.

If this deal had been in the summer i think he would of gone, but he is playing regular football at the team he loves. Therefore he is probably saying im only going to move if i get payed silly money. He probably did tell McLeish he was interested in the summer but his situation has now changed.

i cant help but think why bother with all this causing unease and bad vibes with existing players who will wonder why the fuss to get a player that doesnt seem that keen to come and nobody else is interested in his services anyway. Dont that kinda tell us something. Im not convinced this is a good deal for us so why are we trying so hard. If the man doesnt have the balls to do his own deal and insists on sending an agent as his mommy who has self interest in obtaining a huge wage deal so he can earn his percentage, well i dont think he is the kinda player we need.

The bottom line is Boyd does not want to leave Rangers. He loves the club and feels that he has not let them down (when he has been picked!). Boyd will dig his heels in at Rangers as he will feel as long as he does nothing wrong (but score goals) the manager is the one who will get the pressure NOT him. Boyd has been offered more money at Birmingham but obviously does not want to play for them. He did the same at Kilmarnock, Cardiff offered £500,000 for him and were offering a great package but he turned them down and played for Killie for another 5 months knowing Rangers were going to come in for him in the January window. He simply feels that he is good enough for Rangers and that no manager is going to force him out the door (as long as he is doing the business on the field). Both Le Guen and Smith have/had problems with Boyd but he is still their and if Smith doesn't pick him and Rangers lose or draw, Smith will be under real pressure.

Forget Boyd. I haven't seen him play enough to make a judgement but the size of the fee and Rangers willingness to let him go, would indicate he's not that special. And we don't want another so-so forward cluttering the benches. No offence intended but recent Scottish imports have hardly set set the place alight.

Hopefully Bowyer et al will be able to improve the distribution to the front guys we have and our goal tally will increase dramatically.

Cardiff City fan in peace.

k1llie1869, Cardiff have tried twice to get Boyd and he wasn't interested. Just as well it didn't get to negotiations as there was no way we'd have paid £3m (which we offered in 2008) plus £20k per week.

If you do get him, please not before Saturday, as given the history between us and him he's bound to score.

He doesn't want to leave Rangers in my view, they just need the money for him, thats why he turned down Birmingham, hes playing for his boyhood club at the moment and hasn't even mentioned leaving. Top quality striker though, hes not the best all rounder but his goals outweigh that by far.

Boyd is not worth 3.5 million he is not worth 1 million, there is great play made of the goals he has scored 19 goals,7 of these were penalties and another 6 were dubious? ie offside but then again Rangers are like Manchester United they are `favoured` by referees he will be a disaster in England the SPL is a Mickey Mouse league

------------------------

It's not as simple as that. Boyd is Rangers through and through and while he doesn't want to leave he doesn't want to make the club look bad either.

If he comes out and says "I'm not leaving at any wage" it will make it even more obvious (if it could be) that Rangers are in serious trouble financially and are DESPERATE for the deal to go through. After all the chairman said if they don't sell a player for £3m "things could get bad". Hows that for poker face business acumen with 3 weeks of the window left???

There are a lot of politics involved. Boyd will be coming under severe pressure from Rangers management (Murray/Bain) to 1) accept the deal and 2) keep quiet about financial details

As a 'Rangers man' and a relatively young lad Boyd may not be hard to manipulate this way.

As for SPL mickey mouse comments - plenty of players have come from EPL to play here and flopped - Flo, Berkovic, Tommy Johnson, Marcus Gayle... Tebily flopped and then became a regular at Birmingham.

An astute manager will judge the qualities of the player not the league he plays in.

As a Celtic fan I would be glad to see the back of him.

herring_baws you're talking a load of nonsense regarding the SPL and Boyd in general.

With reports that Lazio are in for him now, the whole transfer situation may just heat up now.

Personally, i don't want him to leave, but the club need the bread.
