Silverstone Moto GP 2010

Great news that Silverstone will hold the 2010 MotoGP.
Donnington has never been the ideal circuit for race fans.
How about Brands for 2011 ?

How can Silverstone be as good for spectators when you can only see a small percentage of the track from any one position.

Also think about ticket prices. Are they going to be increased to the level we have had to pay to see F1 at Silverstone?

From MCN yesterday "Insiders claim that MotoGP organisers Dorna have snubbed the use of the new Donington Park circuit in favour of a larger sanction fee from Silverstone, believed to be double what Donington Park were prepared to pay."

This is good news for Silverston.

They have secured a top event to replace F1 and will not have to make massive expensive changes to the circuit.

I agree with the comment that the last corner for bikes is a bit rubbish but other than that a good circuit.

Straight swap with Donnington bikes for cars.

now we will see what the traffic problems are like now that the two circuits have swopped round . Donny is a nightmare to get in and out of if ever there was a case for a new road to a circuit donny screams out for one just like they have a silverstone. but with planning regs it will take forever.

Shame the GP isn't going to Brands, for me (and many others) it is better than both Donnington and Silverstone for spectators. Of course both circuits are great for racing. Riders love Brands and the action is always brilliant, facilities are better than the other circuits too.

Agree with Number_46 that its a shame it's only the BSB going there this season.

This is a disaster. I know Donnington has its problems but just as F1 arrives and we get a new track, which looks pretty good, and brand new facilities MotoGP is back to a dark ages track with bad facilities and bad views of the track. Lets hope Donnington get it back for 2015.

Well it's great as it's not so far to go for us soft southerners but agreed, just as donnington gets upgraded we get thrown back in time - i mean it's not as bad as bernie ever made out really but the f1 nobs get shiny new facilities the bikers get the cast offs......2nd class citizens as always BUT......
the main problem with Silverstone is it's too FLAT!!!
no inclines means boring spectacle for bikes and poor spectating -
congratulations to Damon Hill (as a biker and ex racer i guess it's his brdc hand in this) but i'm not sure.....
surely Brands is the natural home - god the traffic can't be any worse than silverstone!

WHY NO SEPARATE MOTORCYCLING FORUM ON 606 - shows how much the beeb value motoGP - in the forthcoming trailer for the year's sport at moment motogp's not even mentioned yet golf is????
figure it out....

Go Sliverstone after losing the F1, this is a fanatasic move on there part. I just can't wait to see the bikes in the 2nd,3rd and 4th corners of the track. Good move on Moto GP's part.

I think this is a terrible decision - I've been to WSBK at Silverstone (the year of the torrential rain) and I'm not going back and won't be going to motoGP - the views are terrible except in the mickey-mouse stadium section at the end of the lap and other than at this part of the circuit, you feel like you're about half a mile from the track - at Donington conversely you feel like you're a stone's throw from the track, much of which can be seen from many points around the circuit.

I'm not sure which Dorna decision I think is worse - exclusive BBC rights or switching to Silverstone :o(

I'm not sure the views at Donington are going to be the same once the re-modelling is done.

The whole banked in-field section which is currently in the south west corner of the circuit is going to be taken up with the new pits complex.

In fact, since that was by far the largest viewing area, I wonder how many places there are going to be other than in expensive grandstand seats.

That is going to block part of the view from the the embankment above the Old Hairpin/McLeans section and McLeans/Coppice banking.

That will substantially reduce the viewing opportunities.

Of those criticising the views at Silverstone, how many have ever ventured down to Stowe & Club or indeed Copse if you can get into the right grandstand? I appreciate its hard to get the perfect spot in a GP crowd, but then, that's true everywhere.

Ask professional riders and drivers what the best circuits are and we get: cars - Suzuka, Spa, Brands Hatch; bikes - Laguna, Assen, and Brands Hatch.

Brands Hatch is also a favourite with spectators.
