Charlton- the "positives"

Championship Charlton Athletic
comment on the article

The support was excellent on Saturday both in terms of numbers, and vocal encouragement.

Murty did ok at full back, apart from their first goal.

It occurred to me on Saturday that maybe we have got a third parachute payment coming our way at Charlton, and that this may have been factored in to the board's recent decisions. His name is Jonjo Shelvey.

What do fans think? Have we got to wait until he is 17 to get him on a contract, it says in the paper today that Newcastle want him.

NickGray in almost positive sounding post shock !

Only kidding winkeye

On the bus on the way home some bloke (he said he used to be a player, but I asked my dad and he said he'd never heard of him) said there were loads of scouts there on Saturday. I don't know how true this was though.

We HAVE to keep ahold of Jonjo.

- as a visiting fan i have to say I thought the home vocal support was virtually non-existent.

Nice ground and thanks for the three points!!

For the sake of Jonjo, I really hope he doesn't go to Newcastle. That move would probably ruin his career. He should go to a place with a really good academy that's willing to put time into making him a top class player rather than hoping for instant success. Arsenal would be ideal (as long as Wenger and the Champions League football is secure), but Middlesbrough wouldn't be a bad option. Everton might be good too.

That's for Jonjo's sake. For Charlton's sake, I obviously hope he stays as long as possible (and by that I mean that we get to keep him playing well for us, but still get the big money from his transfer)

I was at the game on Saturday (in the Forest end) and I have to Jonjo looks quality. I thought he showed more than just a touch and determination as well - his link up play was great and he really knew where other players were, even when he had his back to them. I hope you guys hold onto him - you'll give him first team football and no Premiership club can offer that as consistently as you can.

That's just the point though dancetotheradio, he hasn't been playing consistently for us as apparantly he needs protecting. I say, if you're good enough. you're old enough.

i'm a southampton fan but i have always had a soft spot for charlton, especially since i went to the valley a few years ago and had a great day out.

i hope things get sorted out soon because it seems like a real mess, but without getting saints relegated!

As a home fan i think that this guys right, the North stand ALWAYS get behind the team vocally, but we need it from everyone, East and especially West to make the home advantage count.

When we was battling relegation in the prem - atmosphere was key in getting some of those results against the likes of West Ham and Wigan. We need results now and we've ALL got to get behind the team.
