Chelsea's current predicament is there owndoing, the turning point for me came in the Summer of 06 when Ballack and Shevchenko signed for Chelsea, who does Mourinho then make as his next signing, Kalou, 19 years old and a raw diamond as opposed to Ballack and Shevchenko 29 years old each, Mourinho realised that Chelsea needed to bring in youth because he was aware that in 3/4 years time Chelsea's squad would be beyond repair in terms of age, problem he has is that RA needs big name players to boost the profile of Chelski if they are to reach their Self Sufficency target of 2010. Lets go through Chelsea's squad now, assume its the end of next season, leading into a World Cup summer when players frequently change clubs or pursue new challenges after having a good World Cup. I'm looking at 1 aspect in particular, sell on value, if RA gives whoever is in charge an ultimatium that they have to sell before they can buy who has sell on value at Chelsea?
Cech - Probably not going to leave but at 28 would have plenty of sell on clout as GK's can go on forever
A Cole - Possibly would be nearly 30, but if needs be would command some sell on fee
Carvalho - 32 Probably not
Terry - Wouldnt leave
Bosingwa - Doubt they would sell him
Mikel - One of very few examples of a player who if for example has a poor 09/10 season they could sell on if they thought he wasnt up to much
Essien - Wouldnt sell for all the tea in China, how badly he has been missed by Chelsea, the best CM at Chelsea in my opinion
Lampard - 32, no sell on fee and you have to pay him 120k+ per week for 3 more years, very likely that the final 2 years of these 3 years he will be past his best. Nice buisness there Kenyon
Ballack - 34, same as Lampard
Deco 33 - Same as 2 above
Drogba - Could go in the summer, so probably of little relevance
Anelka - 30/31, unlikely to be a big sell on fee, probably 5 million at most

Mourinho's interview after the 2-0 loss at Liverpool rung the bell that perhaps instead of signing Ballack and paying a levy for the Shevy who went dry they should have been in the market for young players then, his asking for transfers then as reinforcements might have just been seen then as a call for all hands to the pump, but now it arguably suggests that he wasnt in favor of big name oldies signing for Chelsea, more a case of wanting some youth. Now that youre owner's money taps have been firmly closed off, Chelsea will not go on a 70 Million spree in the summer buying in younger replacements for these players all at once you will be restricted to one big name per summer imo, so it could take 3/4 seasons to turn Chelsea into the dominant force you were under the Special One, Bet his sides are splitting at Inter Milan now. To clarify my above point further United have a set of players who if they dont quite make it as First team players replacing Giggs, Scholes, G Neville in 18 months/2 years time they can sell them on for a reasonable fee, Nani could fetch 8/9 Million/ Rafael 6/7 Million/ Evans 8/9 Million.
Mourinho identified a need to bring in youth with Obi Mikel and Kalou, RA was naive in getting rid and how it could be severly damaging for you now.

To the united fan going on about respect

how about you respect us for being top of the league and only losing once in 21 games?

How about you give us respect after you went 1-0 up and we came back and beat you 2-1..

Squad valuations dont come into it, most of the time its the players contracts that your paying for etc.

And if you think your a gracious United fan, then please admit to me that Rooney should have been sent off in the first half. First for the kick out and 2nd for showing dissent, and thirdly for running 20 yards to have a go at an official when he wasnt even involved.. Shocking behaviour from the so called saviour of english football.

Chelsea is not ready! losing by 3nil to ManU?! Most of the players don't understand their value to the club. We need a coach that is very critical - 'scolari is not the man!' END OF STORY!

What I find hilarious is the Chelsea fans wanted Grant out so badly, and were so releaved to have Scholari as their new manager.

I remember there was this talk about how "now they have a great manager, they will win the league this season"...

I knew from the start Scholari was a joke, he's turned the club into a complete circus.

look those are you on here are either idiot or don't have any football sense at all. a game like chelsea and ManU two big team coming together to play a very important match and the moment the ref issue four red car the chelsea player in very first 20 minute of the game that's was a changing factor of the game cause i knew chelsea wasn't going to play like the want to cause most of their player are on caution and all manchester have to do was apply pressure and atlease score 1 or two goal to kill off chelsea and drogba was a complete joke..my comment for the lad that's big phil was is a jokes,where were u when chelsea was winning all their match at the start their season and is scolari a jokes now,look lad it's hard to score on a team that's doesn't play at all but park all their player behind the ball...if u would like to respond feel free cause i ahve something else for ya.....
