If 2008 was his 'Magical Year', what the hell do we call 2009?!

I too would like to confirm that I believe Djokovic is a great player. I am always confident he will win a match no matter who he plays and generally surprised when he does. I've been watching Tennis for a long time and recognise Talent when I see it and Djokovic is very talented. Like all players, he went through a bad patch recently but that doesn't mean he is not talented.

There are for very talented players in the Top 4 and lots of potentials emerging. There will not always be able to perform 100% every single day, they will have off days. I think this year will make for interesting viewing and this really shouldn't increase the insults on these boards.

Murray is obviously putting the hours in training and it's starting to reward him. His game at the moment is on top form and the other top players should be very worried. I really hope that he can produce the goods when it matters most and pull one out of the bag this year and end Britain's many many years without a grand slam winner!

It would be Scotlands grand slam for me,take it as read it's a done deal, forget the rankings, best player in the world by a country(Scottish) mile.We Welsh brethren do not want the "Saes" to get any pleasure from a Celtic victory, you doubted him we didn't.

Regards

Well Murray, playing at the top of his game would beat Federer or Nadal, even if they are playing at the top of their respective forms, but not Djokovic, if the latter plays at the top of his game. When Djokovic is at top form, he plays with lot of gusto and enjoys his game immensely, which makes all the difference. Talentwise Murray tops the list, but I rarely see him enjoying the game so much. The flourish is not accompanied by the oncourt relish. He has built up on stamina and strength in the last year, which was his weaker aspect. He may still find it tough going in the fifth set scenario. Ultimate game is mind over matter and he wins many a match when he is set on winning.
I detest the English predilection to build up prejudice on the ethnic nuance. A mother loves all her sons just the same. Either he is English or not. Period.

I hope he does well as he is a great ambassador for Scotland again Scotland, i know my saxon freinds wont like that but we never try to claim one of your sportsmen as British ie Tim Henman Eddie the Eagle and so on. Also i agree Djokovic is a great talent and will be interesting over the next few years with him Murray and Nadal.

"whoever said djokovic doesnt have the same all round game.....not sure what you are talking about ! djokovic has an incredible all round game and is I think superior to murray. How do you think Djokovic has won a grand slam already (remember he is younger than murray !) and how come has reached at least the semis of all 4 slams including French Open twice and wimbledon. I dont recall murray ever featuring at Rolland Garros or at Australian Open even.

Dont criticise djokovic when he has already achieved far more than murray. He also like Murray reached the final of US open too and gave federer a far tougher match than murray did in his first slam final. He had set points and should have won the first two sets!
djoko has already won a slam too, murray has not.

I wish murray all the best but there is a reason djoko is ranked ahead of him, better career to date and better head to head"

----------------------------------------------

*How many Grand Slams had Federer won when he was as old as Andy Murray is at the moment?

*When Djokovic played Federer in the US Open Final, had he player Nadal the day before? How many times has he beaten Federer in his career?

* Djokovic had a better start to his career, but that doesn't prove much does it - it's recent / current form that matters most. Who's won the most matches over the past 6 months, and has the best head to head record against other top 10 players? Andy Murray. Enough said!

To all the people saying Djokovic is a better player than Murray- not anymore. Don't get me wrong, he was playing superb stuff at the start of last year, but Murray was nowhere near the form he is showing right now. The form that Murray is showing right now is pretty much unstoppable, not even Djokers best form could stop him. Murray has a better all round game and now is both mentally and physically stronger than Djokovic. I think that Murray can get so much more better on hard courts (yes its hard to believe!), and also on grass and clay. I reckon he has a fantastic chance of winning the Aussie Open, US and Wimbledon (and quite a few times too). The French Open is out of the question with this guy Nadal still around (unless hes out with injury). I hope Murray wins multiple grand slams, as i really think he is a rare talent and can dominate the sport if he has the drive to do so.

no one is playing better than murray at the moment, but he needs to keep it going, and once he gets tht first grand slam, which i believe he will do at the australian open, he will, in my opinion be the long term world number 3 if nt 2 behind rafa

Hammer:

Murray played 1 1/2 sets against Nadal the day before the US open final, probably even less time than he would spend on the practise courts. If that tired him out, he should not be playing tennis.

Tennis isn't measured over a period of two weeks. Djokovic won the last Aus Open, won the last Masters Cup. Federer made three GS finals last year, winning one and making a SF. Nadal won 2 GS's and made 2 GS SF's, losing to AM and subsequently withdrawing from tennis for 2 months due to injury.

Murray achievement in a GS last year? 1 Final, 1 QF...
