Browse: Rugby league "Manly Are Coming To Play" - Haslerby FrommersGuideToBritain2013 (U13757429) 10 January 2009 Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler will be bringing a full strength squad to the UK for this years World Club Challenge. All of their World Cup stars will feature, as will all remaining members of the Grand Final winning team plus some new aquisitions for the coming season. At last, Leeds will face a genuine challenge to their crown instead of the usual Australian excuses. It will be a classic contest. Webb v Stewart. McGuire v Lyon. Peacock v Kite. There are match-ups all over the park. The game may also see a new star arrive on the world scene. Could be the best WCC of all-time. Although Wigan/Manly in '87 or Brisbane/Wigan in '94 would be tough to top. What are other fans' memories of WCC classics? Latest 10 commentsRead members' comments or add your own

outrageousdummy (U11002136) posted Jan 12, 2009 I hope Manly are taking this seriously. Brisbane certainly did in 2007 - the look of shock and disgust on Lockyer's face in the changing room after the match still makes me smile! Great match in appalling conditions as was the other time Saints beat Brisbane (snow, hail) which must also be one of the classic matches. Let's hope the weather's good then no complaints or excuses from either side and we see a good advert for rugby league. Shame it's not Saints, but it'll be nice to see Jamie Lyon playing over here again.

FrommersGuideToBritain2013 (U13757429) posted Jan 14, 2009 ? Super League needs for Leeds to give Manly a real pounding and to prove our competition is indeed top-notch. The World Cup has dented English egos. Ireland had a fairytale run but the season still needs a big lift and the drubbing of the NRL Premiers would provide that in a way.
