"Manly Are Coming To Play" - Hasler

comment on the article

Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler will be bringing a full strength squad to the UK for this years World Club Challenge. All of their World Cup stars will feature, as will all remaining members of the Grand Final winning team plus some new aquisitions for the coming season. At last, Leeds will face a genuine challenge to their crown instead of the usual Australian excuses. It will be a classic contest. Webb v Stewart. McGuire v Lyon. Peacock v Kite. There are match-ups all over the park. The game may also see a new star arrive on the world scene. Could be the best WCC of all-time. Although Wigan/Manly in '87 or Brisbane/Wigan in '94 would be tough to top. What are other fans' memories of WCC classics?

I hope Manly are taking this seriously. Brisbane certainly did in 2007 - the look of shock and disgust on Lockyer's face in the changing room after the match still makes me smile! Great match in appalling conditions as was the other time Saints beat Brisbane (snow, hail) which must also be one of the classic matches. Let's hope the weather's good then no complaints or excuses from either side and we see a good advert for rugby league. Shame it's not Saints, but it'll be nice to see Jamie Lyon playing over here again.

There's that bloody grub's name mentioned again. I'd like to be able to get on here for 24hrs without somebody mentioning he who goes by the name of "killer" Ha! Ha! Ha! the only thing he kills is a backline movement at 5/8

Manly have lost one player before the plane leaves Sydney of which is a shame for the young fellow willing to show his new club a thing or two.

Powerhouse winger Williams from Parramatta Eels whom is built like the proverbial brick 5hithouse has been killing them in the pre-season training until this morning when he has succumbed to a hamstring injury of which will put him out of action for at least 8 weeks.

He has been built up as the next SBW with his size & speed and Manly had purchased him for the second row even though he has been playing on the wing since his junior days but his size alone has made this decision easy for Des "Manly coach".

? Super League needs for Leeds to give Manly a real pounding and to prove our competition is indeed top-notch. The World Cup has dented English egos. Ireland had a fairytale run but the season still needs a big lift and the drubbing of the NRL Premiers would provide that in a way.

Shankle,
Leeds could win by 40 points and it wouldn't prove a thing with the current set up the way it is.

To give Manly a good pounding would be counter productive, it would fall in the hands of the doubters, a close tight game is needed where both teams give their all.

4-6 points in it for me.

Just read my post back through and it seems a tad arrogant, as Leeds are odds on to win. I actually think it's impossible to call. Which is the way it should be.
