Why not extend some contracts

Why not extend some contracts, if we want some of our big names to stay.

I am not sure if Green, Upson, Parker, Bellamy etc contracts are running out, but if any of them have a contract running out why not renew them, so the transfer speculation stops?

Wasn't Etherington's contract renewed over the summer?

I don't think you'll ever stop speculation WLTH....It's deemed the job of the press to drum up a frenzy in the transfer markets!!.After all....How much 'speculation' actually turns out to be true?

Also (IMO) a contract doesn't mean much nowadays!!There are so many get out clauses for both sides which are written in,usually as a matter of course!!......Also,if both sides agree to 'tear up' the contract, then that is also acceptable!!....

Thats what I also thought aswell nychammer66- that Etherington's contract was renewed over the summer.

remember that if you extend contracts then you will be paying them more money....something we don't need to be doing right now! If they only have 1 or 2 years left and it's Green or Upson then they should be extended otherwise wait and hope we are sold.

As a rule the board review the contracts during the summer when there is two years left to run. Green's is up for "review" this summer. Not sure about the others.

I am not a lawyer but surely a fresh enquiry into the Tevez business by the FA/PL would breach all laws of natural justice irrespective of whether you think the original decision of a fine was enough or not?

Surely another enquiry would now be prejudiced by all of the subsequent events in and out of the courts and therefore an impartial and objective verdict no longr possible? If it were a criminal trial for example it couldn't come to court?

Should a further enquiry seek to punish us with a points deduction it would be immediatly challenged by us in the courts?

It seems to me the FA/PL have shot themselves in the foot by this development?

Clarification/opinion anyone?
