The reason that Hughes has gone for Parker and Bellamy is simple. Man City are in a relegation scrap. They are not fighting to get into Europe or the CL they are fighting to avoid the Championship. Both of those player are seasoned campaigners, who will both go for the money (especially the mercinary Bellamy) but they will help MC to avoid the drop. Then they will be gone or warming the bench. Do you think that superstars like Kaka will roll their sleeves up for a relagation dogfight???? Nah!

I dont understand the reasoning in buying Bellamy for the team!! He is sooo over-rated and as most people suggest he is a disruptive influence, especially with a golf club.

In regards to Santa Cruz, I think he would be a fantastic player for City, with the skill of Robinho playing balls into him I think he would get at least 10 league goals in the remainder of the season. Also Scott Parker would be another good buy. Hes a fighter and would help toughen up the midfield more and provide good cover for the defenders.

So get Santa Cruz and Parker and leave the dud Bellamy.

Also think Robinho will not stay at City for much longer if City dont start buying in super-star players.

I doubt anyone who feels Bellamy is overrated have actually seen him play more than a couple of games, and probably base most of their theories of him being disruptive or a mercenary on what they've read over the years in the tabloid rags.

If you speak to the fans of clubs Bellamy has played for you'll get a very different story. I myself have followed him throughout his career for club and country, and with him you get 100% commitment all of the time, someone that talks on the pitch and gees up a dispirited dressing room, he'll run all day pulling the opposition defence apart creating space for his fellow strikers. If he's kept fit he's gold dust.

He's now 29, at his peak and no longer the young nutter fighting everyone and everything! At West Ham there hasn't been a second's trouble, he's respected by both players and staff and the fans are desperate for him not to go.

He's a class players who will give City the kick up the backside it needs. He's the kind of player you need, not more trumped up 'superstar' players who play when they feel like it. Flood the team with them and you'll drop like a stone.

Well said Lechuck.

Exactly the point a scouse friend of mine was making yesterday.

He's one of those players you hate when he plays against you.

Bellamy is a tremendous player when fully fit.

I watched him outpace Philip Lahm against Germany a few months ago despite giving Lahm a 3 yard head start. And Bellamy was running with the ball.
