Can Pietersen continue to play for England?

International Tests England
comment on the article

Of course on form he is a key member of the squad but if the stories about a rift in the dressing room between Pietersen and other players won't help the morale of the squad.

It's also suggested that Hugh Morris sounded out senior players on the Pietersen situation and his statement about dressing room disunity suggests that one or two of them told Morris they didn't rate Pietersen as a captain.

Pietersen will now have to go back into the dressing rooom again and face some of those players who have appeared to undermine him and also share flights and accommodation with them for the Carribean tour.

Will everyone be prepared to forgive and forget or will the split in the team continue to grow?

pieterson is a great cricket player but some times he over steps the mark and can get a bit cocky i can understand why he got so anoyed at the manger.i understand why he was striped of his captincy but i think he can continue to be a great player and i think people will like his boldness about him hopefully they can get things back on track and hopefully win the ashes.

I cannot believe that the ECB did not sound out both Moores and Pietersen about the other before KP was appointed . This would seem to be basic organisation policy , and all the more vital if there were already straws in the wind about differences between them . For the longer term , I believe that there is too much interference by well-meaning parties . Be brave ECB , appoint a coach and let him choose a captain with whom he can work .

Yes lets drop Pietersen from the team.

then we will see that the middle order has no Backbone what so ever.

all the Idiots on here make me laugh.

Strauss > As long as hes not tempted outside offstump hes good
Cook > Hit and Miss
Bell > No Runs
Collingwood > Runs then non
Flintwood > cannot be relied upon to get us out of trouble
Prior > Pretty good Batsmen can prolly get into the team infront of Collingwood alone.

So where exactly are runs going to come from?

Agree with you except that Cook is not hit and miss. He just cannot convert properly. He never really gets out cheap.

Where are runs going to come from?
Broad and Swann... joking.

I predict that sooner or later Pietersen will cause problems again. His ego is so big it blots out his brain. I see his future in the IPL. They deserve him.

It seems that the so called 'senior players' of the team eventually got their way. I suppose it would have been a challenge to meet the standards of Pieterson. Well lets hope that these senior players will bring something else to the team against West Indies and Aussies.

Get rid of pieterson at such a vital time and prepare to suffer the consequences. The situation was handled with a circus like buffoonery and is a prime example of the rift being created in the England camp. It may be a blow for the comitee's pride but unfortunatley KP is still Englands most dominant and skilled batsmen. Pieterson should however focus more on the development of the team rather than his own score.
