Will it be a better track than before ?
I think the track as it is is fine.

Sorry to hear that Gordon, but the south of england has had its fair share of sporting events and having F1 in the midlands is more fair in general.

Well, if it's the BRITISH Grand Prix how come it's only ever been held in England, eh?

Where I come from Silverstone is the Midlands...laugh

In defence of the Great Crested Newt, people must understand that it is a unique species.

Despite being classified as endangered, it nevertheless manages to turn up on virtually every site proposed for development.

This level of environmental commitment is unmatched by any other animal. Look carefully around any environmental protest site and you will see groups of brightly clad newts emerging from ancient miniature VW Campers having bussed-in to state their case.

I think that the plans look good, I just hope that you will be able to rome around the circuit on GP weekend like you can do at the moment. The track needs to be improved and lengthened so that it meets FIA standards. Lets just hope that the Silverstone plans are made reality so we have 2 world beating circuits and maybe even 2 Grand Prix on the calender.

Regarding the track changes its a difficult call as although Donnington has an attractive layout it rarely produces exiting tight racing - particularly with motorcycling - this has been blamed on many things from being too technical ie one mistake and your lap is shot to surface grip (too much and too little!) hopefully the extended straights etc will give us a gp to be proud of.

It is technical and there is often little grip and this is why it will be a very welcome addition to the F1 calendar.

If drivers are making mistakes all the time there will be more overtaking?

I'll believe it when I see it. Getting planning permission is one thing, building it is another. Spending 100 million to build a circuit in the current climate when even circuits in the Far East are wondering how they will make ends meet should not make anyone hopeful.

The way Bernie views this, and all circuits, is that they should put their own money into building their circuits and facilities, pay him tens of millions in fees to host the race, get nothing off the back of TV or commercial rights, make ends meet and feel privileged that they are hosting a F1 race. I'm afraid that circuits just cannot do that now.

What's the logic of not giving this to Silverstone and spending £100m on refurbishments when they say that they want the sport to become more economically viable?

"What's the logic of not giving this to Silverstone and spending £100m on refurbishments when they say that they want the sport to become more economically viable?"

Because Simon Gillett (the man raising the money) doesn't own Silverstone?

The BRDC, with all due respect, would have difficulty raising enough money for their Christmas Dinner and Dance, let alone £100m for circuit improvements.

Hopefully this way we get two world-class circuits in Britain instead of one; there's a lot of work to be done though of course.
