England's midfield and back row dilemmaSix Nations England by punkdemon69 (U7526156) 07 January 2009 Firstly Englands midfield is possibly the most important aspect of the England Team at the moment. Cipriani, will most likely be dropped to the bench with Geraghty coming in at 10. His tackling is very good and creativity is top quality, outside him there are two real options available. Flutey at inside centre, which means you need a bigger outside centre to run lines such as Tindall. Whereas if stuart barnes gets his way and they play Olly Morgan at Full Back, and Armitage at outside centre, then i think you need a big strong fast inside centre such as Turner-Hall. rygbilloegr (U13692908) posted Jan 8, 2009 I am actually a Glos fan (also a Tindall fan), he has positives, he does run good lines and is superb in defence (and his kicking game has improved), however he is not a playmaker, this does not necessarily mean he does not deserve a place in the England midfield, but with him at 13 you do need to find other ways to bring the back into the game. Glos use Sinbad's handling skills and clever running lines to bring fullback, and wings into the game,he is reponsible for much of Glos's creativity. England will need aexcellent playmakers at both 10 and 12 if we are to really utilise our back 3.

the1withpace (U12381992) posted Jan 8, 2009 i take your point but if cipriani is the playmaker and wonder boy everyone says he is... (and im not so sure he is)then surely this would not be a problem? I have seen Tindall act as a play maker for us on many occasions, though agreed i went to far to suggest that he IS a play maker... on his current form Tindall must have a place in the england team but in the interests of development id maybe play him off the bench...

khaazi (U2548195) posted Jan 9, 2009 We're all missing a very obvious solution to the troublesome No. 10 position. With the aid of a scrumcap & some bumfluff we could disguise Nick Evans as Cipriani. Problem solved.

JamesEngland60 (U13773043) posted Jan 9, 2009 Mike Brown should definitely get a look in the 22. Does anyone agree with me on this and the fact that Mark Cueto should have 60 England caps by now?

khaazi (U2548195) posted Jan 10, 2009 As a quins fan it hurts me to say, that despite all of Mike Browns ability at full back, he does lack the necessry pace for the international game. Unless there are injuries you can't really look beyond Armitage & Morgan at present. On the subject of Cueto, its good to see him back to his best - he never did much wrong in an England shirt and had a great tries per games ratio, but there have been a few lads played since that have put him way down the pecking order. It will be interesting when the squad is announced.

Sociosport182 (U10983564) posted Jan 13, 2009 I think Englands problem is that we have far too many good players at the moment who are good club players, but very little internationally class players. Comment on this article
