Hello fellow Robins. first article on here so go easy!

What do you realistically expect for this season? I think we should make the play offs, especially now the top eight are involved. I am expecting great things from Dobson and hope he can instrument some good quality wins for KR.

Tell me lads??? How did Crossman go for KR last year.
Ive only just realised that Souths have picked him up for a couple of years but there was no huge hoo-haa about his signing, all very low key so I was wandering on how he went in his short stint in the old dart.

cheers ale

SSNRL, good to here from you again mate. It always seems a bit weird talking to someone in the other hemisphere but I always appreciate your comments mate whether I agree or not.

I'm probably going to get a basting for this but I thought Crossman did a good job for us. A little like Gannon the previous year he was the one evrey one took a dislike to I think. His work rate and ethic were very good in my opinion. Alot of people thought for his size he should've busted a few more tackles but at the end of the day he defended well and took a bit of putting down. Using him in the interchange with Mills and Makali proved quite draining on other defences. At the end of the day mate I don't think he really settled here and struggled to win the fans over. But, good luck to him in the future. He'll probably prove his worth back down under.

Cheers

i am a Wakefield fan, and i believe KR will have a similar season to last, and acheive probably 7th again, obviously earning them a play-off place
i went to both games for us against rovers last year, we won both, and they away game against them probably sums them up for me
leading 18-4, going on to loose 26-18 with just 12 minutes left
they are a very good time, but not consistant enough, and i dont think they will win anything next year, but the play offs is by far good enough for Hull KR
Trin to come 8th and make the grand final smiley

Crossman was a little bit of a scape goat. He played well when he got aggressive and played very well on the back of a big run and the defense was on the retreat. He couldnt however bring his side out and for me his loss was a good thing as he frees up a quota spot, Had he been coming in this year with a big aggressive prop like Fozzard alongside him he could have come on leaps and bounds.

Back to the origanal question.
Overall anything other than a top 8 place would be a big disappointment. The addition of Fozzard I think is a very good one as he brings an additional aggressiveness to Rovers hopefully rubbing off on Mills, Watts and Wheeldon .

Hoping both Both Walker and Webster play well because if they dont they will lose their place to Wellham and on the wings with Colbon Fox and Fitz we have competition for places and hopefully a strong enough squad to deal with any injuries that may happen.

For me if we have the money another Hooker would be welcomed however if Spaven can step up like Kirk did last year then we dont.

The start of the season the optimism the customary good start lets keep it going this year though Rovers here's to 2009biggrin

As always a lot will depend on when injuries occur & who gets injured. I think between 4th-8th is a reasonable expectation. We've got a fairly settled side, with a few good additions, namely Fozzard. Unlike other clubs though we arent relying on our new signings improving our team 10 fold, just hoping they give us the extra edge. If we get a gd start while other clubs get used to their new coaches/signing, we should reach the play offs. As mentioned before an injury at hooker could give us problems but we'll see.
As for Crossman, its probably unfair to judge him on 1 season, he never settled & therefore never performed to his maximum, probably not helped by people expecting more from him, he was average & could have kicked on this season but we'll never know.

everyone keeps talking about where we might finish in the league, but with us now been guaranteed a place for the next 3 seasons do you think justin and the boys might push more for silverware in the challenge cup

hkralltheway:

I was thinking the same thing mate, I do think that Morgan will go for it a bit more in the Challenge Cup given that we can afford to put out a team that would be first coice with the prospect of a couple of fringe players playing in the next league game.

If we stay relatively injury free in key positions, I reckon top 6 is definitely achievable. I'd like to have seen us sign a really quality hooker as I don't think you can get the best out of Fish when he plays full 80 and we have no other natural hooker at the club.

Hoping for a big season from Dobbo and Jake Webster who looked like he was carrying a knock most of last season.

Verdict - 5th and two more shoe-in derby victories!!

I will be surprised if we finished 5th. Justin needs to learn how to turn bad performances around quicker than last season. As for Crossman, he had a few good games and was a steady peformer. Can never really say he had a stinker. He did not settle in England, but would have like to have seen him for 2nd season at least. Hope Fozzard can play as many games as he did.
