Morning all,

Heard on the Quay this morning that Glen Johnson is due to sign a 2 year contract extension this week.

If true, it will be the best bit of news we will get this January and a positive statement to the rest of the squad.

I hope he's back by the 13th!

As a Chelsea fan i hope Johnson stays with you , am glad the lads doing well at Pompy

and i hope you keep Defoe aswell , to be honest , in my opinion and NO OFFENCE TO SPURS OR CITY FANS , and this is rich coming from a Chelsea fan (BEFORE ABRAMOVICH YEARS) about money..

but this season City and Tottenham have the potential to spoil it , yes it's the transfer window it's ment to be like this , but why ruin probly the most exciteing Premiership weve had in ages?

so far , City haven't been as bad as i thought they would be with just buying Bridge...but who knows..

Zhirkov to Chelsea..hopefully

It'll be great if GJ stays with us, what we need now is a partnership similar to Belhadj's and Traore's on the right side, GJ's a top player who if i'm honest deserves a club much bigger and better than Pompey!, PUP TAB&WA!

If Johnson turns down Liverpool then he clearly doesn't have any ambition.

No offence, but the right back slot would be a straight fight with Arbeloa who I love, but could do with some serious pressure.

Neutral here.
Sorry NoclasslikeKopclass, but you're chatting rubbish! What if Johnson's ambitions are to achieve sucess at Pompey and make them the very best he can? Just because he turns down your club shows nothing about his ambitions! Talk about an up-yourself big four attitude. By your logic Johnson 'showing his ambition' would have meant him staying at Chelsea and hardly playing. You must think that Wayne Bridge was really ambititous sitting on the Chelsea bench all those years!

Cheers NW Shrimper, GJ hopefully has sussed out that at Pompey he has a great defensive mentor in Tony Adams, as well as the fact that he is a big fish in a smaller pond at Fratton-one of the players that if fit, will feature in every game and getting regular football.

That is what has won him his England place. Before he came to us, he was low on confidence and miles away from a call up.

I think the penny has dropped.

How about a partnership of Marc Wilson at RB and Glen Johnson at RM. This will give us the pace and width that we need on the right without compromising defensively.
