top_corner_trevor (U13772395) posted Jan 7, 2009 Shaun Wright-Phillips cost Manchester City £8million. He has clearly shown that with regular football and backing from his manager (like Downing) that he can perform very well at the top level.

full_on (U13649095) posted Jan 7, 2009 Just like to add that downing is one of the few good naturally left footed wingers england have and that is probably a large reason why capello plays him and why managers like harry want him cos looking at spurs squad apart from dos santos and bale they havent got any decent left footed wingers

wasps_rovers (U12024212) posted Jan 7, 2009 downing is a decent player and to continue his england career needs to stay at boro where he is and always will be the best player. if he goes to spurs he will not look as good compared to the other spurs players like bentley etc who actually have quality. and the price tag is definately too high. hes worth no more than 10 million. i know some boro fans who are stunned by the overpricing and want to sell to buy 2 or 3 other players.

BeppeSapone (U11050546) posted Jan 8, 2009 Downing has a hit rate of less than one goal per 10 games . If he is worth 14 mill Ronaldo is worth 140 mill. Face it Downing is average. 5 mill at the most
