Bangladesh - Sri Lanka

comment on the article

After a shaky start, Tillakaratne Dilshan's 162 helped Sri Lanka to reach 371-6 after day two of the second Test against Bangladesh.

But what are your views on the game? Should Bangladesh have capitalised more after taking those early wickets?

And should Sri Lanka be batting the experienced Dilshan higher up the order than number six? Is wicketkeeper Prasanna Jayawardene really their best choice as opening batsman?

I think there is a big lesson for KP and Team England here.... Sri Lanka wisely chose 7 proper batsman and no. 6 and no. 7 scored heavily to rescue the side. Duminy, Yuvraj, Dilshan, Symonds etc have all played vital knocks at no. 6; the same position where Cap'n KP wants Freddy to bat!

England are effectively 2 batsmen short, and this will affect the teams prospects heavily I feel.

i dont think dilshan is all that great, hes just cashing in against the minnows as usual

great knock, but wait till he plays a knock like that against south africa, then i will applaud him

typical bangladesh, they have good patches, but then let the opposition off the hook, although their good patches are becoming more frequent

i agree with you yorksfan. dilshan is not that great. he performes against minor teams, he doesn't score a lot of runs against teams like india, SA and anyone in top 5 teams. i don't know what is happening with sangakkara, he is a great player but something is going wrong with him. i don't think jayawardene is a great player either. if some one is great thye have to perform well against every team but jaywarene does not do that. i don't know how is sri lanka goign to perform against SA and india.

I have seen Dilshan cashing in on minnows in test cricket. But he got few good ODI knocks against good teams. Since we dont have any other talents at middle order we have to keep him. He can turn the ball better than any other batsmen bowlers such as Sanath.

dilshan has made centuries against england, ausi and india so it not like he is only performing against the minows, he is also the number 1 fielder in world cricket with ab de villiers and can bowl a few, we're lucky to have a guy like that in our middle order

dilshan isn't a brilliant player but he's competent and nowhere near the worst test player about.

in fact, imo he's one of the better no.6s playing.

mendis is a good player but i don't like it when people say he is better than murali. mendis no where close as murali. murali had his own style and mendis has nothing. i think bangladesh lost this match as well. but all i can say is in 5 years time bangledesh will be a strong team as they have such a young team and they came close to win against SL in the first match. they proved they are good side in ODIs so soon they will be a major force.

"they proved they are good side in ODIs"

?

They had a pretty good World Cup in '07 but have been poor before and since. And sadly the ICL defection means this current side has too many weaknesses in my opinion

Makes you wonder why they vote the same way as the BCCI doesn't it. They'd embarrass themselves less if they had full strength.

dilshan emerges with 305 runs and bowling figures of 4.2-1-10-4

SL win by over 400 with a day to spare. after a well fought first test, BD rather folded in this one. i hope we can find the right batting order and lineup over this year
