shantonwhites (U2346024) posted Jan 5, 2009 Will always be a legend to me. Realised my dream of seeing The Superwhites in the top flight. Took the knocks of 2 near misses from gaining promotion right on the chin and just came back for more. Brought players I could only dream of to Burnden Park, not to mention bringing through Peter Reid and Sam Allardyce.

TrotterUSA (U10772217) posted Jan 12, 2009 I have the fondest memories of Ian Greaves time at Burnden Park. As a teenager, my Dad would take me and one of my mates to see the games and what a fantastic spirit we witnessed, the players were all heroes to us. Not all during Greaves time but some of the talent we saw in those days was amazing, Peter Thompson, Francis Lee, Willie Morgan, Frank Worthington, John Byron etc etc, just fantastic entertainment. The leadership and guidance Greaves gave the team was exceptional. He leaves great memories with me and many others. Thanks Ian Greaves. R.I.P.

monty57 (U2008412) posted Jan 13, 2009 Sad to hear about Ian Greaves, the only Manager in my 45 years of supporting HTAFC that took us to the highest division. He brought through players like Frank Worthington, Jimmy Nicholson and Trevor Cherry and is largly responsible for 'hooking' me as a lifelong Town fan! Any fan always says that they support their team through thick and thin - Ian Greaves provided the thickest bit in my 45 years! Comment on this article |
