We still need a Striker...!!!!

Premier League Hull City
comment on the article

All this talk of possible signings is great, but we are still lacking firepower up front...
Cousin has proved to be alright, but is not setting the world on fire. I admit I was wrong about King and he is doing just fine, but we need to spend some money and get a decent foil to play alongside him.

Where we find one, that is another matter and one for Mr Brown and the scouts, although now we have slipped away fom the top 4, perhaps Arsene might be prepared to loan Carlos Vela for the second half of the season...?

Come and play the remainder of the season at Southampton. Just what we need to help support the kids in our fight against the drop.

Deano will always be a 'legend' at City and no-one will ever forget the goal at Wembley, but it's a squad game, and Deano has been 'chipping away' behind the scenes all season and maybe Phil Brown has now had enough? I know he's only had limited chances in the Premiership this season, but when he has come on...........he's hardly set the league alight and along with a few others, (i.e. Boateng, Ashbee), his performance at Man City on Boxing Day was a disgrace and I wasn't disappointed to see him not appear for the 2nd half.
His best performance this season was away to Swansea, and that maybe tells us that he could still do a job in the Championship, but maybe the Premirship is a step too far???
As far as the calls for a 'coaching role' goes, I understand the sentiment, but I suspect Barmby has already been earmarked for such a role when he retires.
Thanks for the memories Deano and it's maybe not the ending you wanted, but lets just make it a dignified as we can. (You'll always be welcomed back).
As far as a new striker goes............why is Kris Boyd talking to Birmingham and not us?? He's a cracking striker and scored goals wherever he's gone and would offer something different to King and Cousin

To all the fans of other clubs coming on here slagging off the Tigers for sending Deano out on loan, there's a few things you need to understand

Deano is a legend, will always be a legend at no-one at this club underestimates what the club owe him, that's the reason he was given a very lucrative one year contract in the Premier League, despite being unlikely to be more than a bit part player.

The problem is, that we do not have the most talented players in the Premier League and it's team spirit that largely responsible for what we've achieved so far this season. Deano has had opportunities in the league, he played against Chelsea, Wigan, Portsmouth, Liverpool and Man City, which is more of an opportunity than many or the rest of the squad have had.

He was not happy with this and thought he should be regularly starting, which he's simply not up to. He's voiced his unhappiness weekly in his blog and in his national newspaper column.

Week in, week out, this has got progressively more irritating for both the fans and the club, despite his legendary status. He's now damaging team spirit, without any real justification, culminating in starting a fight with Marlon King on a team bonding trip(I accept King is no angel himself and played his part too).

Deano was given his contract in the Premier League and had he kept his head down and taken his chances, we wouldn't be in this position now. He didn't and things have now got to the stage now where there's really no option but to let him leave the club to get the regular football he craves.

City will continue to pay his lucrative contract, as they should and there's no-one at this club that isn't disappointed at the way things turned out, but we still love the man as much as ever.

well put scooter...aslo deano isnt been forced out..or told to leave...hes made it clear he wants to play football..to which ive said before and ill say again..is commendable..he could easily take his fat pay cheque..enjoy watching premiership football..and still be the main focus of our team on shows like soccer am....but he isnt interested..he just wants to put his boots on play football....his chances are limited here..so he is been told he can leave to be able to go and play....

Phil Brown should remember that not only did Deano score the winning Wembley goal, but he also scored the goals 2 seasons ago, that pulled Hull from the brink of relegation from the Championship. If it weren't for Windass and his goals, Hull would be a 3rd division team. So much for repaying the debt,,,,

At the end of the day, you can't afford to play a striker who's past it and stay in the premiership.

Well in a mad world of football the big question I would ask Phil Brown is you must as a manager talk to all players and tell them striaght .....if he thinks he won't get a game be man enough and say it and give him a chance to go on loan
Deano has shown his love for city and could leave with his head held high ......I reckon Bradford would take him and he would be loved again .
My view for what it is worth would be let him find a bit of confidence and give him some game time for a month elsewhere and bring him back for a game or two
We still need a striker who will poach a goal in the six yard box ....can Cousin do that or King for that matter
Buying a striker and another central mid is a must for me but I still think we are having a great season and am loving every minute

I think Deano should be kept on at the club in either a coaching or an advisory role to the players.

His presence on the pitch is phenominal against the right opposition. His finishing saved us from relegation and won us promotion.

I've got to be honest I was one of the first people to say that bringing in a veteran striker was a poor decision but since then he has confounded his critics and played some of the best football of his career.

I think he should hang up his boots and look towards a long and prosperous career in the dugouts and on the training field.

There is no doubt in my mind that he will make a good manager, possibly for city in the future. His status in Hull as a City is verging on royalty and he would be welcomed with open arms should that day ever come.
