FIVE WHO WILL AND FIVE WHO WON'T

comment on the article

Five who'll reign supreme throughout 2009

1. Margarito - Beats Cotto and there is nothing muchout there to bother him as Floyd wants bigger fish.

2. Williams - Won't get the big fights and may feast on has-beens and never-will-be's shame...

3. Hatton too big for Pacman and Floyd might have to wait till 2010.

4. Vitali - Too durable for Haye and only needs to land once. No one else out there.....

5. Froch - Taylor has been found out and ditto Paul Williams.....

The five who won't.........

1. Hopkins - whether through retirement or young buck he loses.

2. Valuev - Should of lost to sad old Evander which says it all...

3. Pacman - Gets trashed off hatton

4. Forrest - Not as good as he used to be and looks it.

5. nicky cook - Average at best....

That's not true, pressure fighters and punchers are meat and drink to pacman. JMM? and the host of other mexican fighters he's beaten.

===============================================

JMM is not the best example as alot of ppl thought he lost in the 2nd fight. and it was very very close.

And the other guys he has faced- Diaz,Morales(lost),Oscar Larios(who was a SBW),Barrera

None of these guys have anywhere near the power of Hatton and only one (Barrera) can be called World class.

Now i know he has improved since then BUT alot of ppl have jumped on the Manny "bandwagon" after his win over DLH and seem to be under estimating Hatton.

And to say he has faced someone the class of Hatton is slightly ridiculous. Hatton is a near prime World Class 140 fighter. Manny has never even fought a World Class fighter above Super Feather weight (130lbs)

Yes he can still be caught but I bet he takes Hatton's punches.

===============================================

You can bet all you want But we won't know until Fightnight

I think Hatton needs to fight the fight of his life to pull off the win, he needs to be better than he was against Kostya Tzu,

===============================================

If he is any where near that good as he was vs Tzysu, he will blow Manny away in 5/6 rounds.

I won't use the win against Paulie to tell us where he is at.

===============================================

Why not ???? A dominant win vs the No 2/3 in LWW who many said had what it takes to beat him, a fight where he was never troubled and had the same spring in his step from the 1st to the 11th

Manny is obviusly a fantastic boxer, but i feel this is a step too far for him.

I think Manny is made for Hatton, and if this gets into a slugfest It will be an even more resounding win for Ricky, IMO the only boxer who could beat Ricky at 140 would be if Mayweather went down to fight him, Manny is no way a technical genuis he is very hittable and will not have the KO power to beat Hatton.

But how many names have Hatton beaten? an old Kostya Tzu and a one handed Malignaggi. Stepped up Floyd and got schooled. Beat a washed up Castillo. Beat Urango who is no world beater either.

I don't agree that Hatton wins a war going toe to toe with Pacman. They both will undoubtedly go forward and clash and I believe Pacman's speed and relentless combination punching will be the beating of Hatton.

Yep agree with that list, particularly Froch and Valuev. Froch should fight Taylor in a heartbeat. Too big and strong, though HBO reportedly have other ideas. Don't want one of their housefighters getting a kicking.

Valuev - My God! Didn't realise how truly awful he was until I watched him against Evander. Shocking!

-------------------------

looks like you're and armchair boxing fan too ;op

pacman has 5% at best chance of KO'ing Hatton, the only eilte lvl fighter he's stopped was a Super bantamweight, Ricky if you hadn't noticed is a Light welterweight who has been in with guys who have Ko's at middleweight.

SBW = 122lbs
LWW = 140lbs

I'm not knocking him, he's a great fighter but Flyweight Ko'ing a Superbantum doesn't mean he's KO'ing a Light welter.

have to agree with Hammerheim for the same reason I've been saying in other blogs re campaigning weight difference. Hatton really should win this one against Pacman as Oscar should have. Size and power difference. Both have decent boxing skills therefore it stands to reason that the bigger more powerful guy will win.

Just popped back for a look and realised why I always post over on ESB now. The thread starter has no clue and his thread is filled with inaccuracies.

To be honest, these MAY BE the top five this year;

Winner of Montiel/Donaire-Will then fight Darchinyan, I think either of these guys has his number (although I think Donaire will have to try harder to win a rematch) and will effectively unify the SFW division (one of the best currently going) and be primed up for a shot at BW against Penelosa or Hasegawa. P4P status beckons.

Juan Manuel Lopez-The battle hardened Vasquez and Marquez are two of my favourite fighters, but every so often a young fighter comes through that destroys veterans and/or proven Elite fighters with apparent ease. The real test for this kid will be Celestino Cabellero. I think he has a very good chance of beating Lopez.

Roman Gonzalez-There are three undefeated 'champions at strawweight, but this kid, 21-year old Nicaraguan, looks in the best position to unify the division. Claimed WBA strap with win over 2nd longest reigning World champ Niida in his hometown, beating him up to a stoppage. Methodical attacker, looks to have frame and time to move up in weight and challenge the likes of Ivan Calderon.

Paul Williams-God knows why his name was mentioned next to Froch at the start of this thread. Williams will not duck anyone. Providing no one ducks him, he'll have his chance to shine.

Yuriorkis Gamboa-Has a WBC eliminator next in just his 13th pro fight. Will have Oscar Larios to face if he wins, which will basically be an exhibition and crowning glory (Larios is beyond shot) Hopefully will travel to Indonesia to try his luck with Chris John, if he cannot establish FW supremacy, no doubt his move back up to 130 and fight the likes of Guerrero (tough fight for Gamboa) or Linares (overrated, like countryman and gymmate Edwin Valero)

I'm back off to ESB.

Pacman has been dropped by lesser punchers than Hatton.

Total nobodies have KOed him in the past.
-------------------------------------------

Pac was in about the same physical state there as DLH was in their fight. Tyson was stopped by Kevin McBride. Does that mean Kevin McBride would be able to beat Trevor Berbick, Mike Spinks or Frank Bruno?

Careers change.

Again, ESB (rude word) all over you posters.

Hatton cuts easily, will be easy foil for Pac's sharp, accurate punches.

Hatton will not deal well with the southpaw stance; Manny is much slicker now, I doubt Hatton will get close to him to be able to rough him and up and wrestle him around.

Hattons punch resistance has gone down a bit. Shame, as I like Hatton, but Pac is on a roll and will stop Hatton (on cuts I predict) around the 7th or 8th round. Not actually being on the deck will help Ricky retain some pride, and he will be able to fight again, leaving superfights behind and concentrating on the likes of Timothy Bradley, hopefully unifying the 140 lb division before he retires, a very rich man, who lost only to two fantastic fighters.

No shame in that whatsoever.

Cuts are an irrelvancy, Hatton hasn't had a serious cut in 5 years and these day the corner men can keep a fighter going from cuts for a 12 round fight.

Pacman's power is being seriously overrated I think.

The southpaw style is why I have pacman winning so we agree on that one.
