How would you rate Murray's chance of finally winning a grand slam event in the Australian Open? I would put him as second favourite behind Federer, I really think he can do well here.

Behind Nadal and Djokovic, Murray is a strong favourite, I actually perhaps change my mind ; Murray as second favourite.

1)Nadal
2)Murray
3)Djokovic
4)Federer
5)Davydenko/Nalbandian/Tsonga etc..

Jay, he didn't get to double break point up, he got a double break, then lost 4 consecutive games in a row. Sorry i don't believe that when 'he's (Murray) playing well' he'll be able to finish it off, haven't seen any evidence of that. I'm not knocking Murray, he played well, my point is that Fed wasn't playing well, unforced errors again. If he had been playing well Murray would have lost, and nearly did.

On a different note, not good starts to the year for either Rodick or Blake.

I think it very much depends which Fed turns up det_axel. On the whole i would agree with you but Fed had some real howlers last year.

I would say that Borg has been the greatest. Borg retired at 26 and did a lot more than anyone else

Just not correct elche - great player though he was.

Sure Fed hasnt won RG, but Borg never won the US and Fed has more slam titles already.

Borg and McEnroe would have won lots more slams if they'd bothered to even enter the Aussie Open. AO wasn't really considered a major for many years so the top pros didn't bother to show up.

However, Federer has done better at the French than Borg did at the US.

Federer is the greatest shot maker of all time. Only McEnroe, Rod Laver and possibly even Miloslav Mecir could match his skills.

Nadal is a great player but doesn't really have the same range of shots. Even Murray is more inventive than Nadal.

Murray was simply in brilliant form at this tournament. Nadal threw everything at him today, but Andrew was just too good for him. How strong is Murray, superb.

Steaua,

Agree with you. Murray is looking the best player over the three set match format. With his improved fitness and strength, he is ready to dominate in five set matches too.

What shocked me was that he looked faster and fitter than Nadal. And Nadal is considered the toughest player on the tour.

On this showing, not sure if Nadal is really going to be ready for the Australian Open.

He probably just needs to show up to get to the final of the French but he won't relish a semi final against Murray in Australia. However, he may not even reach that far in the tournament.

Murray was amazing today however he is amazing against Federer but when it comes to the US open he got heavily beat. I think he will win at least 3 grand slams in his career. Hes still got a lot of work to do though and he needs to improve on his second serve. However, I'm really looked forward to the AO this year.

Of course Murray *could* win it. But 'could' is not "will". But no doubt, he's a serious threat for the title, he's been to a GS final already and I'm sure he's not satisfied with that...

Looking forward to seeing him play.
