and re-write Cricket history in Newyear 2009. With the absence of Brett lee and Symonds, Smith can make merry in 3rd test. Beating Australia even in a single Test match in Australia was considered great once. But Smith has won the 1st Test with an incredible chase of 400+ runs in 4th innings. In 2nd test, talented bowlers have restricted and tied down Oz. Body language of respective Captains radiates win and loss easily.
My advance congrats for Smith & Co for their sensational 3-0 win and pushing Oz to the place they can fit in. Newyear 2009 would be most memorable for both SA & OZ.

Smith can't put together 3 good tests in a row. He's too unfit. Looks like he and Kallis have been spending their time dunking Tim Tams into their cups of tea rather than spending time lifting tin with the rest of the Saffers.

Australia will be boosted by the new faces. Barring Siddle and Hayden, who should have been replaced by Hughes and Nannes, Australia have the team who can turn this around.

Really, Gympie?

This is just the first half....

In the second half, the Aussies may be in for more battering from Smith and co in South Africa.

I'm not sure this SA team is any better than the 1969 one, as I think Richards and Pollock were better than any of the current batsmen at present, and in Proctor and the Pollock brother they had excellent fast bowlers.
However as a team they are excellent, so well done.

Fair play to SA. Great performance and what a time for sport of that particular country, Rugby world champs and now potentially the number 1 cricket team in the world.

As for Smith well he isn't my favoutrite player in world cricket but he as been awesome this year and is without doubt the best batsman in the world just now.

As for Australia they had to loose sometime and I'm sure they'll be after blood come the ashes, but its nice for them to have some real competition at last.

It's impossible to predict if Australia will bounce back and be awesome in the ashes! There's just as much chance of them rolling over and losing all shape and focus and England whitewashing them, you can never tell what will happen or how teams will react. An amazing performance by South Africa who are proving to be the best current team in the world, definately, in my opinion, more complete than India or Australia at the moment. England, however, were there or there abouts for the majority of the series against India and South africa so it goes to show that we're going in the right direction, whilst we're just beginning to get a bit of shape, hopefully a comfortable couple of series wins against the West Indies to take into the Ashes, Australia have got to find a bowling attack!
Maybe I'm overoptimistic here, but I just feel that test cricket as a whole is a more exciting place now and that we could very realistically win the ashes.

South africa out played aussie with skill and consistency in every aspect of the game. england do not have the consistency to assure us of a competitive series despite displaying glimpes of the skill by individual to do so.

i agree with Smith, this is the greatest thing haapened to SA. but they ahve to keep on doing what they have done against Aussises. remember India is right behind them. don't forget india has some experience as well as talent in the team where as SA has just the talent not much experience within the team. for the whole of the year, SA only drew 1 series and that is against India, that clearly states India and SA are equally talented teams.
